My MAC Green Eyeshadow Swatches

I can't believe that I haven't posted my green MAC eyeshadow swatches yet, considering that green is my favorite color. I did these swatches way back in July, and I guess I just got sidetracked from posting it. Anyways, here are some of them. I have mostly limited edition ones, but it wouldn't hurt to see them anyway, because sooner or later, some of these will be repromoted in a future collection.



Metamorph is a limited edition eyeshadow from the Madame B. collection from way back. It is a highly-coveted shadow because it's been discontinued and the color is gorgeous. It is the perfect, springy light green for me that works great on the inner or lower lid area. The finish is amazing and it glides like butter on the skin and gives a pretty, low sheen. I also have Meadowland and Pink Papillion from the same collection and these three are gems from the Madame B. collection.

Pagan is a matte yellow-green from the Alexander McQueen collection. Like a lot of others, I wasn't too impressed with its color pay-off. You really have to pack it on and have a really good colored base underneath to make it pop. If you do get it to work for you, though, it is a pretty lime green that would also work great as a lid color.

Ah, Lustreleaf. Many hated it because it is in lustre formula, the most-loathed MAC shadow formula in my opinion, because of the lack of color pay-off. What is actually a point against Lustreleaf turned out to be its strongest trait. It applied sheerly so that you can actually use this green shadow to highlight your browbones when you do green-based eye looks. It's also great for the inner corners of the eyes.

Aquavert is a limited edition from the Lure collection in 2006, and it got repromoted in this year's Sugar Sweet collection. It is a light, frosty mint green that is very springy in look and feel. This would look great paired with darker greens or olives.

Warm Chill is another limited edition from the Cool Heat collection. It is a frosty sea foam green with gold pearl that I hardly use, but it is pretty nonetheless. The color would show up better over a green paint pot or other green base.

Meadowland is such a highly coveted LE shadow. It is also from the Madame B. collection. It is also a seafoam green but it is darker than Warm Chill and Meadowland has a lot better color pay-off. It is such a beautiful shade that would work great as an inner corner or lower lid color.

Guacamole is one of my very prized eyeshadows. It is such a highly-coveted shadow because it is a limited edition one from the Salsabelle collection, and whenever I see it being sold online, the prices were downright exorbitant and outrageous. I think Guacamole is worth the hype, though. It is a beautiful mid-green with gold flecks, a grass green with superior color pay-off.

Wondergrass is a limited edition shadow from the C-Shock collection. It is a bright grass green, perhaps the same depth as Guacamole but a lot brighter. It's quite bold, has a grittier texture than most MAC shadows, but the color pay-off is decent and if you like greens, you will probably like this one too.

Swimming is another lustre and is probably a few shades deeper than Lustreleaf, but more or less the same texture. This is a popular permanent shade, a mix of lime green and grass green. Lovely color, but it is a lustre so the color payoff is not as excellent.

Lucky Green - I was indeed lucky when I chanced upon Lucky Green on an online sale. A limited edition from the Belle Azure collection. It is another coveted green, a beautiful one at that. It is a gorgeous moss-lime green with heavy gold shimmer, with a rich and buttery texture typical of Veluxe Pearl formulas. Amazingly beautiful, in my opinion. This would look great with darker greens, olives and even with greys and blacks for a beautiful smokey eye. I hope this gets repromoted soon.

Waternymph is also from the Lure collection. This is more teal to my eyes, but texture is a frost yet glides like veluxe pearl. Another gem in my collection.

Newly Minted is a matte offering from the Matte2 (Matte Squared) collection. It is horrible in color pay-off if you don't apply a good, preferably green or black base underneath. However, if you take time to layer it over a good base, it is a pretty minty matte that would work as a lid color. Beautifully contrasts with black, greys, browns, taupes.

Humid, from the permanent collection, is my all-time favorite green crease color. Whenever I use greens or golds, Humid is almost always my crease color, unless I use Grand Entrance from the Holiday 2008 Warm Eyes palette. It is a beautiful deep dark emerald green; great paired with any shade of gold, green, olive, and black. It would also work with beiges and other neutral colors.

Greensmoke is a permanent color, a nice dark olive green that is another good crease color. This looks great with Sumptous Olive and other light greens. Would also work great for smokey eyes.

Lastly, Flourishing is also from the Matte2 collection, a nice dark olive-grey-green. Wonderful as an outer lid color, as I love to use mattes to deepen the crease or create depth in the eye look. Another favorite of mine.

My MAC Neutral Eye Shadow Swatches

I was organizing my MAC eyeshadow palettes when I suddenly thought of swatching all of them. It was a tedious process as I admittedly have quite a few, so I decided to split the swatches in color groups. This is therefore going to be a series of entries on my MAC shadow swatches, for your reference and mine as well. While swatching these and looking at their gorgeous colors on my laptop screen, I realized that I hardly wear many of these amazing colors. From now on, I would be making tutorials and looks using more of my MAC eye shadows.

All the swatches were applied on clean skin primed with either MAC Butternutty shadestick or MAC Soft Ochre paint pot. The swatches were also taken in natural light with no flash to really see the colors in their purest, most natural state.







These are absolutely lovely colors that I use again and again, especially at work. My favorite is Twillery, which is a limited edition color from the Inventive Eyes quad. I loved it so much that I swapped for another one of this. It didn't show well in the picture, but it's a gorgeous shimmery light taupe color that brightens the eyes and makes a beautiful contrast when used together with darker crease and outer V colors.

Solar White of course is a coveted shadow from the Cool Heat collection. It's one of the prettiest highlighter colors that I have. Femme Fi is from the Neo Sci Fi collection and a pretty highlighter with warm goldish nuances. Grand Entrance is a shimmery color from the Starflash collection. I always use this as a lid color and never as a highlighter, because it looked too frosty for me to be used as such.

Obviously, All that Glitters is another fave because I have almost used up my pan. I LOVE this as a lid color. It's an understatement because I've used it so many times. Warming Trend from the Cool Heat collection is another fave. It looks so unassuming but it looks pretty when used in an understated neutral look. I love to use this with my 252 brush as an all-over lid color. Soba is a nice color but I don't use it often. It might be great as a crease color to soften a darker crease/outer V color. Time & Space is from the Neo Sci Fi, another nice crease color. Smoke & Diamonds, sadly, doesn't get any love from me. It is a pretty grey/slate/silver with brown undertones, but I don't see it as very pigmented. I know it was the most popular color from the Starflash collection, and I really want to love it, but (sigh)...

Bronze is from the permanent collection and is a staple of mine for neutral looks. Magnetic Fields is from the Neo Sci Fi collection, but for some reason I don't use it often but makes for a good crease color. Glamour Check! from Starflash is a nice copper brown that I use occasionally. Evening Aura from Neo Sci Fi is a gold/orange/coral shade that I should be using more often. It has been compared to Goldbit, a very hard-to-find and coveted shadow from a past collection. Amber Lights is from the permanent collection that is just an amazing color, I wonder why I don't use it that often!







Nylon is a very pretty color that reminds me of Rose Blanc, a frosty white gold that I'd love to use as a highlighter and tearduct color. Retrospeck is a nice shade, but the lustre finish makes it apply gritty on the lid, although an eye primer should minimize that effect. Gleam and Jest are gorgeous lid colors. When I'm in a hurry on my way to work, I just slap either of these two on and my eyes look professional and polished.

Honesty and Patina are colors I don't use very much, but they make great transition colors to blend the darker and lighter colors on the lid. Cork is a nice crease color, while Tempting and Sable are very pretty outer V colors, albeit Tempting is a bit on the green-goldish brown side. Did I also mention that these colors are also great for bridal work, especially the matte ones like Cork and Brun?

B-Rich is a lighter brown color that unfortunately don't use that much. Mulch, obviously, is a very loved shade. I like to use it on the crease, and it does remind me of dirt. Brun is a nice dark chocolate color that some dark-haired ladies use as a brow color. Bold N Brazen is a coppery color, nice one but I also don't use it that much.

This is one of my favorite palettes because most of the colors from the N collection and Matte-Squared (Matte2) are here, and I just absolutely LOVE the shades and textures of the products from these two collections. The Matte2 shadows are matte, but amazingly, they are so very creamy and apply like buttah on the lids, and the colors are very rich and just amazing. These would be great for bridal work as well.

Daisy Chain is a nice yellow-goldish beige highlighter color. Nanogold is from the N collection which was repromoted in Cult of Cherry. I like the color but hate the lustre finish. Modest Tone and Frisco are gradient colors to blend darker and lighter colors to create a seamless look. Neutral Pink - I LOVE to use this with the 224 on the crease before applying a darker color to contour the crease. It softens the look and yet gives depth to the eye.

Tete-a-Tint is a matte dirty yellowish brown. Ochre Style is a frosty yellowish brown that is a very pretty color to blend gradient shades. Rich Flesh is a neutral warm brown that is a blender color as well. Copperplate is an amazing matte greyish brown that works great on the outer lid or crease, and of course being a Matte2 it's very rich and pigmented. Remotely Grey is a dirty grey brown which is a favorite of mine to blend out darker crease contour colors using the 224. Clue has pewter tones that is similar to Copperplate except that the latter is deeper and Clue has shimmer.

Twinks is my fave- similar to 100 Strokes and Mulch but is lighter than the former and darker than the latter. Handwritten is another favorite- an amazingly rich dark chocolate that is just perfect for any neutral look to give it depth and oomph. A Little Folie is a red-based brown, while Dark Edge has dirty grey and brown tones.

These are my more recent acquisitions. 100 Strokes is from the Brunette Blonde Redhead collection - a beautiful brown-black with definite red pearl. It looks amazing with plums and neutrals. Yogurt is a matte dirty pink-grey that works great as a blender color. Brule is my favorite to blend outer edges of shadows to make the look more seamless. Rose Blanc is a pretty gold-yellow highlighter. Whistle is a matte light pink from the Barbie collection. Ricepaper is my staple highlighter- so staple that I am on my second pan! Its yellow-based tones complement my warm skintone. Pincurl is a cool silvery highlighter from the Chill collection. Also from Chill are Henna, Mont Black and Arctic Grey, which is a very unique color. I have silvers and greys, but not this kind of in-between, dirty snow color. Love it. Mont Black is a beautiful black with a lot of sparkles (or multi-dimensional pearl) in it, but I believe the light captures them as goldish sparkles, which are gorgeous. This is similar to Black Tied, but the sparkles in the latter are somewhat one-dimensional silver shimmer. Henna is an olive green-gold color similar to Sumptuous Olive, but prettier in my opinion.

WHEW! I can't believe I'd described all of them! Watch out for another swatching spree of my other MAC shadows! They will be organized according to color. Watch out for the pinks and purples soon!

Matte2 and Mattene: Mind Your Composure During Tete-A-Tetes

Here's a look using products from MAC's new collections, specifically, my favorites from these new arrivals - Mattene lipstick in Composure and Matte2 eyeshadow in Tete-A-Tint. I've already explained in the previous entry why I love these 2 products, so now I'll just let the pictures do the talking. I also featured my favorite NARS blush, Sin. I have several NARS blushes, but this one is my all-time favorite. It really perks up my complexion, IMO, and for me (and for many women as well), NARS powder blushes are the kings (or queens) of blush staying power. It lasts a whopping 10-12 hours on me without touch-ups, and God knows how oily my skin can be, expecially during summer.

MAC Matte2 and Mattene Look, Reviews, Swatches

Matte2:

I did a look using Matte and Mattene products, but first I am posting some swatches of these in addition to the swatches I posted in the previous entry. I am glad Matte2 is permanent so I don't need to stock up should I run out of my favorite colors. I am loving Newly-Minted (I saw the MA today wear it packed on the lid with Chrome Yellow in the crease, and it looked totally amazing), Fig. 1, Flourishing, Post Haste, Tete-A-Tint, heck, everything, except maybe Pen N Pink because it's much too pale on me. Tete-A-Tint is the perfect transition color: those boring hues you use to blend with other colors to show the gradient or progression of the shades. Flourishing is a deep, dark olive that can be used for a neutral or smoky look, depending on the amount of product you use or what colors you use to blend with it. Fig. 1 is a beautiful, rich, grape-purple matte shadow that is totally goes well with plums, pinks, and everything in between. The deeper ones like Graphology and Typographic are just perfect for smoky looks; however, if you have similar colors, these are probably not must-haves. Post-haste is very similar to Passionate, and both of them are matte as well, although the matteness of Post-haste is much more buttery and easier to blend. Brown-script and Handwritten are beautiful neutral browns. They are not must-haves because these can be duplicated by most existing MAC brown shadows. The advantage of Brown-script and Handwritten however are the rich, uber-pigmented formula (that is perfect for taking pictures, by the way, because it doesn't clash with the flash), and the fact that there is very little fall-out when you use these. You know those annoying dustings of product that fall on your cheekbones or under your eyes? There is very minimal fall-out (or even none at all) with Matte2.



I got Inkspill Liquidlast liner, and it's totally up my alley, being the green girl that I am. I plan on getting Coco Bar too, it really makes the eyes pop and draws attention to your lashline. Just gorgeous.

Mattene:





Can you say love? I am amazed at the wonderful texture of these lipsticks even though they are supposed to be matte, or semi-matte for that matter. I abhor totally matte lipsticks that make my lips chap and turn them into a flaky mess. The old MAC matte lipstick formulas did that to my lips. With the advent of the new Mattene lippies, though, flakies are a thing of the past (well, sort of, unless they make Mattene permanent because I heard they're not). I sooo love the packaging; they are in these slim tubes of Slimshines but are coated lovingly, luxuriously in rubber, and thus look much more sophisticated than the Slimshines. The pigmentation is amazingly rich, and these look great alone or worn under lipglasses. The advantage of these over the regular lipsticks is of course the amazing staying power. When I swatched these on my arm, I had to scrub my skin really hard before they were completely erased. Trying them on my lips one after the other was not a good idea as well because the previous lipstick stained, making the new one take on the undertones of the former because of the residue color. I love the beautiful reds/plums like Rapturous and Rougette, they really brighten my entire face. I have to layer them though with a warmer lipgloss because they have cool undertones that don't flatter my skin when used alone. I used Flattering in my look below, and I just felt naked without my lipgloss that I had to use my new Soft and Slow lipglass over it. The shade that I would probably wear alone in all its glory is Composure. I am SO in love with this shade, I plan on getting at least two more. Beautiful shade that flatters my warm-toned skin, crazily pigmented, and very long-wearing. An A+ in my book.

MAC Lash:

I just saw the new lashes and I was totally floored by how beautiful they looked in person. Packaging was nifty, and I got dizzy with all the amazing styles I had to choose from. My SA was kind enough to help me pick the most natural-looking, yet lush lashes for more oomph. Here's what she chose for me:

Reviews to follow, but let me say I am so in love with Matte2 (read as Matte-squared) and Mattene's texture! Gone are the hard-to-blend, dry as the desert matte formulas - the new formulas glide like butter on the skin, uber-pigmented, beautiful, rich colors, and the product really clings to the skin so staying power is really great. Just beautiful. MAC has another winner in Mattene and Matte2!

Matte² Profile
