MAC N Collection: Product Photos and Swatches

I don't have time to give an in-depth review of this collection right now, but I will very soon. In the meantime, here are some product pictures and swatches. I am very partial to neutrals right now because it's still pretty cold out here and I am not in the mood to don pastely or summery colors most of the time, so this collection is so me nowadays. Yes, you can deem me stuffy, old maid-esque and boring (for those who hate browns and neutrals), or timeless and elegant, like earthy hues that are ageless as they're universal. Take your pick, LOL.

My first impressions: I am so in love with Soft Ochre. The yellow tones of this paint pot make it the asian girl's Painterly, so I am so glad I have one in my stash...hmmm, just ONE? :) I can hardly wait to play with the eyeshadow colors and the pretty lip products, and the Plushlash mascara also piqued my interest. The eyeshadow colors are lovely and have everything you need to create a classic, classy, timeless neutral eye. The lipsticks are okay, some were too light on me, but some were gorgeous, and paired with this collection's lipglasses, the result was just breathtaking.

Lastly, the swatches in this entry are not complete because I already made some N collection swatches here. I will dish out the rest of my review on this collection in the next few days, so stay tuned.

EDIT: Demi-Blanc should read Rich Flesh, and Naturally Rich should be Dark Edge. I was obviously too tired when I labeled these! =D

EDIT: Should read 1N, 2N, 3N, 4N, 5N

EDIT: Should read 1N, 2N, 3N, 4N

These swatches were applied on top of a thin strip of Soft Ochre paint pot

Top to bottom: Brown Border (technakohl), Graphblack (technakohl), Sublime Culture (cremestick lip liner) and Creamola (cremestick lip liner)

Great photos! Thanks for sharing with us! I bought "Soft Ochre" too and I love it! I agree it goes great with us Asian gals! Although I do love painterly as well! Can't wait to see the looks you come up with! :)

Vanessa, Soft Ochre is really perfect for us. I'm sure you'll be rocking these neutral colors as well as you do your brights. :)

I'm thinking of getting Soft Orche as well. Is it a good base for eyeshadows? Cause I'm looking for a base the would not shift/change the colors of my eyeshadow and will help the eyeshadows stay longer. I'm Asian as well =)
Or should I go for Painterly? Any suggestions? I'm currently using NC25 (if that helps).
Help...
Thanks!

Hi Ling! Thanks for visiting my blog! Soft Ochre is a very good base especially for us asians because it's yellow-toned and thus disappears right into the skin. I like it better than Painterly because the latter leaves a pink cast on the skin. Matte paint pots like Soft Ochre and Painterly are very good bases because they make your shadows last a long time (average of 8-14 hours), doesn't change shadow colors and evens out your lid's skintone. I suggest Soft Ochre for you but Painterly is okay as well since you will be using shadows on top anyway. Hope this helps!
