MAC Sugar Sweet FOTD and Additional Review

As I had mentioned, there was no way I wouldn't get the mineralize skinfinishes (MSFs) from this collection. I collect MSFs and I was a little concerned when I swatched these because it didn't look as shimmery as my other MSFs. I'd feared that these two new releases would be duds which would just look all powdery on my skin. Well I was so wrong. These give the nicest glow without looking too shimmery or glittery. These are must-haves if you like shimmery glows. They are so pretty in the compacts as well- they look like little planets. I am so happy I snagged these.

Also, to answer Phyrra's comment again that shadesticks are hard to apply because they tug on the lids, well I just tried this new one from the Sugar Sweet collection and I am positive that MAC has changed its formula. It glides like butter on the lids, I swear! That made me so in love with the shadestick all the more! I also like that they can be applied easily on the lower lashline to prevent smudging of shadows or eye liner on that area, which is a little cumbersome to do with a paint pot. As always, my shadows' colors pop with the shadestick underneath, and they stayed a whopping 16 hours on my lids without creasing. I plan on getting more of these shadesticks because I really love the new formula, and the gold-beige tube looks so chic.

Here's a tutorial on the Sugar Sweet collection look I made. All products MAC unless otherwise stated.


Apply Butternutty shadestick all over lid, brows, and lower lashline. Smooth product on the lid with finger. Using a stiff shader brush (Loew Cornell Maxine's Mop 3/4"), apply Gold Dusk pigment wet using Charged Water. I used this as a base for Aquavert to make the latter's color pop.


Using the 217 brush, apply Stars N Rockets on top of Gold Dusk.


Using a stiff shader brush, apply Aquavert on the lower lid. Using Sonia Kashuk's blender brush, apply Top Hat shadow on crease and outer lid.


Apply more Stars N Rockets using the 217 and blend into Top Hat.




Apply more Top Hat and blend into Stars N Rockets using the 224 brush. Using Stila No. 5 brush, apply Almond Icing shadow on browbone to highlight. Line eyes using MAC Blacktrack fluidline. Apply Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero on waterline and tightline. Using the 219 brush, apply Aquavert shadow on inner lower lashline, and Top Hat shadow on outer lower lashline. Apply Revlon falsies in Flirty. Apply mascara.

MAC Holiday '08: Warm Eyes Palette Look

The previous entry featured a look using the new Holiday '08 Passions of Red Cool Eyes palette from MAC. This time around, I'm featuring the greens from the Warm Eyes palette. I'm really liking the greens basically because of the olive green shade. I did this eye look in more or less ten minutes. The colors really blended easily and were just a breeze to apply. I already did my review on this palette so I will just let the pictures do the talking.

For the lips, I used one of the lippies from my Adoring Carmine: 3 Rose Lips set. I really like the trio and would be featuring it in another review soon.

Custom-Made Shade from Pure Anada

First of all, it's Election Day! I still have (*looks at the clock*) eight hours more or less to vote. My dad called me overseas just to order me to vote for a particular candidate, which is funny because he thinks I'm still a 9-year-old that he can order around! LOL. Love my dad to bits, though. I will be watching the results tonight (bring in some popcorn), along with the rest of the world. In a few hours (if everything goes smoothly and there are no Florida-esque blunders), we would know the results.

Anyways, a month or so ago, I asked Candace of Pure Anada if she could custom make a shade for me because I wanted to find my summer shade in Pure Anada. It's one of my top favorites in mineral foundation, and I didn't want to give it up just because I couldn't find my exact shade. So I sent Candace a sample of my perfect shade in another company, and she said that although the finish of the sample was very different from that of Pure Anada, she would still try and duplicate it for me. Well, she did!! I received the new shade from her in the mail the other day and I just loved how it captures my summer shade. It may not be my shade anymore in a month or two as winter kicks in, but at least I know I have a perfect shade for those long summer months here. Thanks so much Candace! I hope this becomes a permanent shade in Pure Anada. =D

Soft Purples and Pinks

Here's a look using purples, pinks and plums from NYX and MAC. I threw in some brownish gold shadow from Silk Naturals to have a little bit of contrast. It's soft and office-appropriate. I used Pure Anada foundation in this look, and as always, I just love the texture and finish of this foundation. I can't wait to receive my custom-made shade from Candace. I'm using Deep Gold (or Gold Sunrise) in this look and I think it is also a match, but I think I need a little bit of olive tones to perfectly match my skin.

Looks Using Pure Anada and Earthen Glow Minerals

I have not posted FOTDs in ages! Anyways, pardon me if I forget some of the products that I used in these looks as some of these have been taken more than a week ago.

Anyways, I used Pure Anada and Earthen Glow Minerals, two of my latest discoveries in mineral makeup, and two of my best ones as well.


Here is a look using, I believe, either Adorned With Grace or Earthen Glow Minerals.


In this look I am positive I used Earthen Glow Minerals. Perfect match, don't you think?


On my eyes, I used The She Space shadows in Moonlight Whimsy, Lucifer's Chariot and Bella Diablo. I lined my eyes using my favorite liner ever - Almay liquid I-liner in Black. I love it because it is super easy to line my eyes with it. I have been using this brand since '04 and I just love how smoothly it glides on my lashline without smudging. I've been using this more often recently because I go to work much earlier now, and it is a bit time consuming for me to scrounge around for a fluidline and an eyeliner brush, pop the fluidline jar open, and all that stuff. I just unscrew the top of the liquid I-liner that also doubles as an applicator, and I get a great line within seconds.


In this look, I also used my favorite Almay liquid I-liner, but this time I used Brown. I used MAC Soft Ochre paint pot as base, MAC Corn shadestick on the lid, MAC Gold Mine shadow on top of Corn on lid, MAC Museum Bronze pigment on the crease and outer V, and Glamour Check! eyeshadow on the crease. I applied Femme Fi eyeshadow to highlight.

Here's a pic of girlfriends at a dinner at BJ's Pizza and Brewery for a double birthday celebration. I used Adorned With Grace Minerals in the morning, and when dusk came, I added one layer of Earthen Glow Minerals to touch up.


A hot, freshly-baked pizza-sized pizookie, otherwise known as the Pizookie Party Platter, BJ's famous dessert. It has four different kinds of cookies in that humongous platter, including white macadamia and chocolate chunk (yes, not chip but chunk!). It was SO huge that we thought we would never finish it. Really.


Aaarggh! It was soo good! Craving for some right now.

MAC Overrich Pigments and Pure Anada Look

I finally got my 1/2 teaspoon samples of Overrich pigments in the mail, and I am excited to play with these. The seller was so nice to include a sample of Sunnydaze piggie!

Greens Using MAC Tempting Quad, TSS Kiss The Frogs and Meow Meow Feliner

No it wasn't a typo. I used Meow's Meow Feliner in this look. I also used MAC Tempting Quad, The She Space's Kiss The Frogs, and finally, I think I have a match in Pure Anada. I am wearing the tentatively named Medium Gold shade, and I am really loving how it brightened my face.
