MAC Sugar Sweet FOTD and Additional Review

As I had mentioned, there was no way I wouldn't get the mineralize skinfinishes (MSFs) from this collection. I collect MSFs and I was a little concerned when I swatched these because it didn't look as shimmery as my other MSFs. I'd feared that these two new releases would be duds which would just look all powdery on my skin. Well I was so wrong. These give the nicest glow without looking too shimmery or glittery. These are must-haves if you like shimmery glows. They are so pretty in the compacts as well- they look like little planets. I am so happy I snagged these.

Also, to answer Phyrra's comment again that shadesticks are hard to apply because they tug on the lids, well I just tried this new one from the Sugar Sweet collection and I am positive that MAC has changed its formula. It glides like butter on the lids, I swear! That made me so in love with the shadestick all the more! I also like that they can be applied easily on the lower lashline to prevent smudging of shadows or eye liner on that area, which is a little cumbersome to do with a paint pot. As always, my shadows' colors pop with the shadestick underneath, and they stayed a whopping 16 hours on my lids without creasing. I plan on getting more of these shadesticks because I really love the new formula, and the gold-beige tube looks so chic.

Here's a tutorial on the Sugar Sweet collection look I made. All products MAC unless otherwise stated.


Apply Butternutty shadestick all over lid, brows, and lower lashline. Smooth product on the lid with finger. Using a stiff shader brush (Loew Cornell Maxine's Mop 3/4"), apply Gold Dusk pigment wet using Charged Water. I used this as a base for Aquavert to make the latter's color pop.


Using the 217 brush, apply Stars N Rockets on top of Gold Dusk.


Using a stiff shader brush, apply Aquavert on the lower lid. Using Sonia Kashuk's blender brush, apply Top Hat shadow on crease and outer lid.


Apply more Stars N Rockets using the 217 and blend into Top Hat.




Apply more Top Hat and blend into Stars N Rockets using the 224 brush. Using Stila No. 5 brush, apply Almond Icing shadow on browbone to highlight. Line eyes using MAC Blacktrack fluidline. Apply Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero on waterline and tightline. Using the 219 brush, apply Aquavert shadow on inner lower lashline, and Top Hat shadow on outer lower lashline. Apply Revlon falsies in Flirty. Apply mascara.

Pinks and Purples Using Coastal Scents 88 Matte and Shimmer Palettes

I didn't realize how similar this look is to my previous look (Smokey Lilacs) until I saw the photos. The difference though is that I used pinks and violets for this look. This was my first time to use my 88 Shimmer Palette from Coastal Scents, and I can now safely say that I really prefer the Original/Matte palette over the Shimmer, as the former's colors are richer and classier, in my opinion. Apply MAC Soft Ochre paint pot all over lid and brows. Smooth with finger. With a fluffy shader brush, apply MAC Nice Vice paint pot on lid. Apply MAC Beige-ing shadestick on lower lashline to prevent smudging of shadows. Using Loew Cornell Maxine's Mop 3/8" brush (or MAC 239), apply Shadow A from the Shimmer palette on the inner 2/3 of the lid.


Using a fluffy shader brush (I used Studio Tools from Target), apply Shadow B from Original palette on middle of lid. Using the same brush, apply Shadow C from Original palette on outer lid.


Using MAC 224 brush, blend the colors together in quick, one direction strokes (sweep from inner color to outer color).


Add more Shadow C to deepen the color. Add Shadow D on the outer edges to soften the harsh lines using the 224 brush.


Apply MAC Blacktrack fluidline, Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero to tightline and on waterline, Shadow A on inner half of lower lashline and Shadow C on outer half of lower lashline. Apply Red Cherry falsies #15. Highlight the browbone using MAC Yogurt shadow using the 227 brush.

DreamWorld's Dreamy and Creamy Cream Toppings

I recently got my finishing powder order from Dreamworld Minerals. This is a small mineral cosmetics company that doesn't have a big machinery for ads and all that, but I really believe that Ellie (the owner) makes excellent mineral foundations, shadows, blushes and even lip glosses. Some of her best products in my opinion are her finishing powders. She doesn't have just one or two colors or formulas, but she has a wide spectrum of different colors of finishing powders with different formulas to suit different kinds of skin. The names are very scrumptious and whet the appetite too! Dreamworld has finishing powders called "cream toppings", which is an apt term to describe a creamy finishing powder that you apply on top of your foundation to set your makeup. These can also be used as primers applied before foundation.

The different kinds of cream toppings can be seen HERE, and the names are delicious: Angel Cream, Banana Cream, Peanut Butter Cream, Butter Scotch Cream, Peach, Cocoa, and even Iced Cream! The Cream Toppings come in three different formulas to suit different skin types: With Silk, With Clay and Silica, and With Clay but No Silica. The Silk formula is good for dry or more mature skin, while the last two formulas are for oily skin because kaolin clay soaks up excess oil. I most often get the Clay and Silica formula because I have combination skin, and the clay mattifies my skin while the silica diffuses light and makes my pores look smaller, and basically just make my skin look flawless and immaculate.


Here are some samples of the cream toppings I got from a previous order. These little baggies actually hold a generous amount of product and each baggie is good for several uses.


DreamWorld's Glo Worms are amazing as well. So gorgeous! These are highlighters that can be used over blush or by itself to create a dewy, youthful sheen on your skin.



Going back to my most recent order, I got a full size of Whipped Strawberries, Creams-To-Go in Angel and Butter (both Clay/Silica formula), Illuminizer in Dark Yellow and I got a free pigment, a lovely rosey bronze-salmon color named Snap-Apple. I am using Whipped Strawberries everyday as a finishing powder and I am loving it so much. It is not under Cream Toppings but it is called Whipped Cocoon. It is a play of words from Ellie because Whipped Strawberries is made with silk powder, and silk is the fiber from the cocoon of the silk worm moth. Whipped Strawberries is a light pink colored finishing powder but it doesn't make my face abnormally pink; it gives the prettiest radiance and a flawless finish to my skin. I got a fullsize jar of the illuminizer in Dark Yellow, and it's not really dark at all. It operates more like a highlighter for the cheeks and temples, whenever you want a little bit of radiance to make the skin look dewy and younger. I can't wait to use this for my looks.

If you like all these products, wait till you try Dreamworld's foundations!! Oh my, they are really some of the best I've tried. My shade in DreamWorld (Theia) has tiny specks of sheen that don't really make my skin look like a discoball, but it makes it look radiant, not shiny or glowy, mind you, but there's a radiance in my skin that is just gorgeous. I mix Theia with Amenti to come up with my perfect shade.

Don't feel intimidated with DreamWorld's website; it is a great escape to the land of enchanted fairies, goddesses and muses, and you will learn a bit of Greek mythology, ancient folklore and the like, while shopping for gorgeous minerals.
