Nail Stamp Art: Cupcakes Using DRK-B Jumbo Image Plate
Tuesday, May 29, 2012
DRK-B image plate
I am a fan of XL or jumbo image plates for nail stamping, so when I saw this DRK-B image plate at Ninja Polish, I just had to get it. It had - gasp - cupcakes! Some of the images were not that unique, but I really liked the cupcake design, and a few others, so I snagged it. Note: You need to peel off the blue film on the plate prior to use!
I used one of my Sally Hansen Chrome polishes (the ones in bottles). I also used China Glaze in Wicked Style as the base color. The image transferred okay on the stamper, but you need to wait for a few seconds for the nail polish on the stamper to dry a bit before stamping, or else you will get smudged images.
Can't wait to try out the other images!
Layered Polishes Nail Look: Orly Holo Topcoat Over Sally Hansen Fire Opal and Wet N Wild Black Creme
Monday, December 12, 2011
I am really loving holographic or prismatic topcoats right now. I like to layer them on my creme polishes for that really festive holiday nail look. This is why I was so excited to get four Orly topcoats that can be layered over polishes for that beautiful holographic, prismatic, or just specks-of-microglitter look.

Shining Star, Twilight (both from the Orly Holiday topcoat set), Prisma Gloss Gold, Prisma Gloss Silver

Nail Look: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Red Carpet
Wednesday, January 26, 2011
When Sally Hansen says that this is Xtreme Wear nail polish, you'd better believe her. This is one of the longest-wearing nail polishes I have. This lasted a whole 6 days on me with nary a chip. Usually a manicure only lasts me 3-4 days, so this is a really remarkable formula for me.
As for the color, Red Carpet is gorgeous. It is a red jelly base with red glitter. This is similar to China Glaze in Ruby Pumps, but Red Carpet is a tad lighter/brighter. This is a great holiday or special occasion nail polish, but this would also look great on the toes with sexy strappy heels or simple sandals or flops. I know, it's snowing hard in other parts of the country and I'm talking flops, but one can dream of spring (we can't wait for it!). It's a bit warm enough here for me to wear peeptoe heels, so I will probably wear this soon.
Nail Look: Sally Hansen Flakie Top Coat in Hidden Treasure Over Brown Base
Saturday, December 4, 2010
Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure has been one of the most coveted Sally Hansen nail polishes, and it's not even a polish per se. It is a flakey top coat that makes beautiful nuances of the polish layered over it. Hidden Treasure is exactly what its name says it is. Many are looking for this treasure because it is basically flakie heaven in a bottle. Some people even had a list of Walgreens locations where Hidden Treasure was sighted. I haven't seen any Hidden Treasure anywhere since June or July, but I love it nonetheless. For a dupe, you can always get Nubar's flakie top coat called 2010.
I don't remember the name of the brown polish that I used as a base for this nail look, but it is a brown cream. I like that it looks very fall-ish, like autumn leaves.
Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure and Fairy Teal Nail Polish Haul and Swatches
Friday, April 30, 2010
Some of you may probably know that I am a sucker for Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure polishes since the shades are gorgeous and the formula (although, unfortunately, even the price) rival that of salon-grade brands. A few months ago, I bought these pretties from Walgreens and I am really loving them especially Sephora by OPI Metro Chic's dupe, Commander in Chic:

L-R: Gilty Pleasure, Commander in Chic, Plum's the Word
I hauled from Walgreens again, this time with two (one backup) of the coveted, amazing flakie top coat from Sally, Hidden Treasure.

I also got two other colors, Fairy Teal and Silver Lining that look great as well. These were buy 2 get one at half off and that is a pretty good deal for me considering that these are almost 8 bucks a pop.

I included some limited edition Maybellines that are lovely colors. These are my first Maybelline polishes ever. Will post swatches and review next time.
So Hidden Treasure is exactly what its name says it is. Many are looking for this treasure because it is basically flakie heaven in a bottle. Here is what it looks like over Fairy Teal:

Cool, huh? I'd like to experiment with this and see how many more flakie looks I can come up with. Anyways, Fairy Teal is gorgeous as well. I don't have Color Club polish in Revvvolution but I would guess it is quite similar to Fairy Teal. It is also a slightly lighter version of MAC Blue India. I love these kinds of green blues as they are very wearable and yet edgy.
Anyways, hope you're all having a great Friday! Have a great weekend!

Gold Leaf Konad On Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Mudslide

I've had this Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polish in Mudslide for a while now, but I've only used it recently. In the bottle, it's this boring light chocolate milk color but it morphs into this really nice, classy neutral color on my tips. I added a leafy gold image Fauxnad H22 image plate from chez-delaney.com using China Glaze polish in Passion. It made the entire look more interesting and yet not too in-your-face.
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure is a little too thick in consistency for my taste, but it applied really well and it was not streaky at all. Opacity is great and I just love the really wide brush. At almost $8 each, though, the price is too steep for a drugstore nail polish. I bought this particular polish for a little less than $3 during a CVS sale, so I am hoping to catch more sales of this particular Sally Hansen variant soon.
Konad Nail Art Using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Polish in Wet Cement
Friday, February 5, 2010
I finally got a hold of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail polish in Wet Cement for only $2 something when it went on sale at Walgreens this week. I like these kinds of grey creams. This is my first time to try SH Xtreme Wear and to tell you honestly I didn't like the formula. It was way too thick for my liking, and the smell was - err, odd. I had to add five drops of thinner to get the product achieve a consistency I like. Anyways, that was the only snag in the application, but everything went pretty smooth. It was easy to apply and the wide brush was a godsend. It looks so pretty on the tips. I added some Konad art to give it some oomph.
SH Wet Cement reminds me of MAC's On the Prowl from last year's Hello Kitty collection. In the photos, it looked like On the Prowl is lighter, but Wet Cement is actually a tad lighter in the bottle, but they look identical on the nails. If you're looking for an On the Prowl dupe, you might want to check out Wet Cement.
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Nail Polish Haul

L-R: Gilty Pleasure, Commander in Chic, Plum's the Word
I posted this haul on Twitter last week, but it's only now that I've come to blog about it. I made a quick trip to the Walgreens on my lunch hour to check on these babies. I bought my first Sally Hansen nail polish two weeks before, and it was on sale for less than two bucks at CVS. When I saw the regular price at Walgreens, I balked. Almost eight freakin' bucks for drugstore nail polish?? You gotta be kiddin' me! I also bought some other items along with this haul like Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, and even the cashier was aghast. "Wow, $30 for 5 items?". Yes, sad, isn't it? It is sadder to think that I couldn't wait for the sale to come again, since the colors are so damn pretty.
Gilty Pleasure is the kind of old matte gold I'd like to have wear to pair up with my matte gold strappy heels. Love this color, and the metallic finish is very festive. Commander in Chic is an almost dupe (albeit this one is a bit darker) of Sephora by OPI in Metro Chic. Lastly, Plum's The Word had to be mine, as I love purples and plums. I also like the flat head of the brush, as you can control the amount of product in the brush so you don't get too much. This prevents product pooling around the cuticles.
I can't wait to swatch these. Stay tuned!
