Zoya Fleck Effect Topcoats Swatches and Review

I'm sure the nail blogging world has pretty much announced yesterday the coming of the Zoya Fleck Effect mylar fleck glazes that can be worn alone (but then again, they look so much better as topcoats) or over nail polish. I prefer darker bases for these very pretty flakie topcoats. Nail polish enthusiasts all over are as excited as me over these new offerings from Zoya. Here are some swatches:

Finger Paints Special Effects Flakie Top Coat Collection Swatches and Review

Flashy, Flecked, Twisted, Asylum, Motley

Happy Happy Joy Joy! I found these awesome Finger Paints flakie topcoats at Sally Beauty Supply last week. They are part of the Finger Paints Special Effects collection coming out in January, but I was able to snag these early, thanks to some very nice Sally sales associates. I was disappointed when I dropped by my neighborhood Sally's and these were nowhere to be found. I was on my way out the door when I decided to go back and ask. The SA said that yes, they received a new shipment of Finger Paints, but she thought they were "bad" nail polishes because they looked all the same, and looked mottled/ruined. LOL! When I asked to see them, there are the pretties! The SAs asked me what they were for, and I demonstrated by applying one on top of my nail polish for that pretty flakie effect. Needless to say, they were mesmerized and told me that at last they knew what it was for. It was just weird that I was actually the one telling the sales associates what these were for!

Here are some amazing swatches of these pretty flakies. These are all swatched over Wet n Wild Black Creme:

Nail Look: Essie Luxeffects in Shine of the Times Swatch

Flakie top coats are probably one of the most mesmerizing polishes ever. They give this depth and dimension to the polish underneath that makes it look like there are glowing embers in the polish, especially if the base is dark. Essie Luxeffects in Shine of the Times is a beautiful flakie polish that reflects orange, teal, gold and green on the nail, and the changing shades are beautiful, just like falling leaves, and thus perfect for fall. This polish is of course very similar to the now discontinued and hard to find Sally Hansen in Hidden Treasure.

I got Shine of the Times from Walgreens along with other beautiful glitter and flakie top coats from the Essie Luxeffects collection. Take a peek in your neighborhood Walgreens because these are flying off the shelves.

Nail Look: Sally Hansen Flakie Top Coat in Hidden Treasure Over Brown Base

Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure has been one of the most coveted Sally Hansen nail polishes, and it's not even a polish per se. It is a flakey top coat that makes beautiful nuances of the polish layered over it. Hidden Treasure is exactly what its name says it is. Many are looking for this treasure because it is basically flakie heaven in a bottle. Some people even had a list of Walgreens locations where Hidden Treasure was sighted. I haven't seen any Hidden Treasure anywhere since June or July, but I love it nonetheless. For a dupe, you can always get Nubar's flakie top coat called 2010.

I don't remember the name of the brown polish that I used as a base for this nail look, but it is a brown cream. I like that it looks very fall-ish, like autumn leaves.
