Layered Polishes Nail Look: Orly Holo Topcoat Over Sally Hansen Fire Opal and Wet N Wild Black Creme

I am really loving holographic or prismatic topcoats right now. I like to layer them on my creme polishes for that really festive holiday nail look. This is why I was so excited to get four Orly topcoats that can be layered over polishes for that beautiful holographic, prismatic, or just specks-of-microglitter look.

Shining Star, Twilight (both from the Orly Holiday topcoat set), Prisma Gloss Gold, Prisma Gloss Silver

Shining Star and Twilight are from the beautiful Orly Holiday topcoat set. They give beautiful finishes on manicures. Shining Star is gold holo glitter on a clear base, and Twilight is made up of very tiny lilac-silver micro glitter with holo effect. I will feature swatches of these topcoats soon.

Prisma Gloss Gold and Prisma Gloss Silver are beautiful topcoats as well. Prisma Gloss Silver has a more holo effect compared to Twilight, and Prisma Gloss Gold is more gold in tone than Shining Star, but the latter has a more holographic effect.

In this nail look below, I used Prisma Gloss Silver as a topcoat. But before that, let's look at what I used underneath my holo topcoat!

These Sally Hansen Prisms were discontinued a long time ago, and they fetch high prices on Ebay. I got these at Ross. Got 2 packs for $5.99 each. What a steal.

Sally Hansen Prisms are holographic polishes that look amazing over black cream polish or just alone.

These are how these Sally Hansen Prisms look like layered over a black creme:

L-R: Ruby Diamond, Mandarin Garnet, South Sea Pearl, Lapis Amethyst, Diamond over Wet n Wild Black Creme

Amazing holo goodness!

You can see how the black morphs into something quite spectacular. Love the duochrome and holographic effects these Prisms give.

For the nail look below, I layered Sally Hansen Prism in Fire Opal (I got this one on eBay for relatively cheap) over Wet N Wild Black Creme. Then I used Orly Prisma Gloss Silver as a topcoat:

Do you love the holo/prism effect?
