The Body Deli Firming Flax Eye Cream Review

I am a realist and I know that facial products especially eye creams don't deliver miracles. However, I do expect that the product delivers when it comes to moisturizing the eye area, and I expect that I constantly feel that moisture upon application and several hours after that.  I expect my eye cream to make my delicate eye area feel smooth and supple upon application, and to feed moisture to my eye area - the longer it does, the better.

I have been trying The Body Deli's Firming Flax eye cream for several weeks now, and I've got to say that I'm quite satisfied with its performance. While it doesn't create miracles, I do feel tell-tale signs that it tightens and firms the surrounding eye area and keeps my skin soft and moisturized.

The Body Deli Green Mineral Detox Botanical Butter Scrub Review

I have always been a fan of The Body Deli. They have great products that are really fresh, wholesome, and made from organic ingredients and fruits of the earth. My favorites that I have reviewed so far are the Glacial Mineral Mud Masque (love, love, love this!) and the amazing, super-moisturizing Creme De La Rose. I was quite impressed with the products, especially because if was my first time to receive bath and body products shipped with ice packs because the ingredients were too fresh and too unadulterated and pure. Here's what I wrote in a previous review:

The Body Deli's HydraMist: Key to a Flawless Makeup Finish

Many of you know that I use mineral makeup, and it effectively keeps my look flawless and my skin healthy and radiant. This is because real mineral makeup (not the hybrids you find in some commercial establishments) holds only the most natural ingredients without parabens, preservatives, and other gunk that could clog the pores. It also gives maximum coverage for days when I need it, or sheer dewy finish when I want my skin to look flawlessly radiant. Some people don't like mineral makeup because they say that it looks cakey on them. My take? It may be true, but most of the time, it won't end up looking cakey if you apply them in very light layers (with mineral makeup, less is more), and if you use a hydrating mist to set the makeup and to make it dewy and natural.

On Mineral Makeup Application

I apply my mineral makeup in this manner: I sprinkle just a miniscule amount of mineral foundation on my swirly bowl (I use a tea cup I bought at the asian supermarket which has tall sides and a narrow circumference that perfectly holds my kabuki or flat top brush). I swirl my brush in the bowl until all the minerals are evenly tucked into the hairs of the brush. I take my hydrating mist and spritz 2 or 3 squirts onto the brush, then I apply it on my face. Sometimes, I apply the mineral foundation dry, spritz the hydrating mist directly on my face, then use my kabuki or flat top to even out the product until it melds like second skin onto my face. I do this procedure 2 times, or 3 if I need coverage. Some people use a sponge (I like the red ones that Dayna uses), and that works great as well. As of now, I use 3 different hydrating mists: MAC Fix+ (the one I use constantly), Frownies Rose Water Hydrating Mist, and Garden of Wisdom Pineapple Hydrating Mist . The Body Deli is coming up with a hydrating mist that I am very interested to try.

Do you want to clear your skin of pimples, but find benzoyl peroxide-based products too harsh on your skin? Would you like a product that calms zits and moisturizes at the same time? Here is a revolutionary product from The Body Deli that took the company two years to make. It's a hybrid product that is a light-weight moisturizer and a natural, non-chemical-based acne treatment as well. I had the chance to try it and my combination skin loves it. If you have oily or combination skin that is acne-prone, you will love this moisturizer. It is not greasy at all, but very soothing on the skin and has a pleasant light scent. It is just perfect especially for those with active oil glands or during hot and humid days. This doesn't mean you cannot use this during winter. The downside? Since this is an acne treatment, some people might not find it moisturizing enough. Obviously this is not for people with very dry skin. However, you can also use this and slap a thicker moisturizer over it should you want a more emollient product. As always, this The Body Deli product never broke me out nor caused me to get dry patches. It's very gentle on the skin as it only has natural ingredients. I would definitely recommend this to those who are looking for a natural acne-fighting product. Definitely two thumbs up in my book.

Here are some more yummy products from one of my favorite organic bath and body care companies - The Body Deli. (Trivia: Did you know that Kate Hudson has named The Body Deli as one of her favorite eco-friendly beauty companies?) I honestly, truly (madly, deeply) love their products. I have been using their Sage and Grapefruit Facial Cleanser and their Creme de la Rose for months now, and they have worked wonderfully, and have never broken me out. I got to try two more of their products, and let me say that I have fallen in love with these as well. The company touts their products as being as wholesome, fresh, and organic as possible, resulting in the most nourishing food for your skin. I realized how "fresh" their products were when they arrived at my doorstep packed in ice! I am impressed that the company has taken extra steps to ensure that the products arrive at my door as fresh and as unadulterated as possible.

My take: I'll start with the Solar Defense day cream. I love the fact that it is very light on the skin and non-greasy, which is different from most of the products I have tried with substantial spf. Many women apply eye cream in the morning to moisturize the eye area, but many eye creams do not have spf. Did you know that one of the first signs of aging is having crow's feet at the corners of your eyes? Protect your very thin, sensitive eye area by applying a moisturizing cream with spf properties. I use this cream around my eye area on top of my eye gel, ensuring that my eyes get protected from the harsh rays of the sun. I love the very light feel of this day cream on my face, so people who live in hot, humid climates would love this product.





This spa quality mud masque now makes it possible to give yourself a facial at home. This imported Canadian mineral mud masque is designed to deeply cleanse the pores. This mask draws out excess oil, debris and toxins from the skin, while it helps to shrink and minimize the appearance of the pores.

My Take: Wanna have skin that looks poreless, even, smooth? If you do, I highly recommend this product. I just love how poreless my skin (especially my nose!) looks after I use this masque. I apply this once or twice a week after I cleanse my face. Since I store it in the fridge, the cool sensation is absolutely soothing on the skin. I immediately feel the tightening all over my face; in fact, I could actually see the masque literally tightening the skin! I leave it on for 20 minutes, and when I look in the mirror before I wash it off with warm water, I could see dark dots on the masque - that means the masque has drawn out impurities, blackheads, and oil! Yuck! Yes, you could actually see the masque working. After rinsing, get ready to be amazed. You will actually see that your pores have shrunk in size and your skin tone looks more even and smooth. I highly recommend this for those with normal to oily skin, especially those who are prone to blackheads, whiteheads, and large pores.

I guess the only thing that I don't like about the products is that they have a shorter shelf life compared to other beauty products. But what can you say - these products are as fresh as fresh can be. There has to be a trade-off somewhere, right?
Despite this, I still enjoy using the products. Best of all, my skin loves them.

I was able to try their Sage & Grapefruit cleanser specifically for those with normal to oily skin. I have combination skin so I'm smack dab within the classification. The first thing I noticed was the smell. It was a sharp but pleasant citrusy scent that smelled anything but artificial. I never liked those artificial fruit flavors because I already have a sensitive nose to begin with, and the artificial part gives such a cloying scent. This cleanser's scent didn't turn me off at all. Second, it was a creamy cleanser but at the end of the day, it thoroughly cleansed my greasy skin. It left it really feeling clean, but it didn't feel tight on the skin. It thoroughly cleansed yet didn't strip the skin of natural oils. The after-feel is so luxurious too. It really makes the whole cleansing ritual a pleasurable experience. If you have normal to oily skin, I highly recommend this cleanser. It comes in an 8 oz pump bottle for $22. It might be a bit pricey compared to drugstore cleansers, but I really think it's worth it. Besides, 8 oz is by no means miniscule in amount. The company also claims that it has antibacterial properties and will regulate oily skin and breakouts, and it will shrink pores.

About the shrinkage of pores: I used this cleanser together with my Garden of Wisdom glacial clay mask, and I saw a HUGE improvement in the appearance of my pores. The pores are a lot smaller, finer and less prominent. I don't know which of those two products contributed to my smaller pore size, but I tell you, the combination is amazing and I keep noticing a marked reduction in the pore size.



I have been using Creme De La Rose and this is a pretty unique cream despite the fact that its name sounds eerily similar to that of a more expensive, media-hyped moisturizing cream that was originally formulated for burn victims. Maybe the similarity in the two is the absolute richness of the formula. Creme De La Rose is not your ordinary facial moisturizer. It is SO rich that I don't know if those with oily skin can use this. The website explains the product better:

Experience the fountain of youth in this luxurious and concentrated anti-aging treatment. Blended with the regenerating oils of pure Organic steam distilled Bulgarian Rose, Moroccan Rose Geranium and Sandalwood from India. Plus this cream is synergistically blended with living Bio-Active Fresh Cells of fruits and vegetables that transform this cream into the ultimate anti-aging and regenerating facial treatment.

This cream is as luxurious as the description sounds. It as an assault to the senses: beautiful creamy soft pink color, authentic rose scent, and rich cream that softens and keeps the skin supple even after you have washed it off in the morning. It is rich but not greasy, although, as I said, it might not be for very oily skin. I see this as a great anti-aging treatment for more mature skin and for those with normal to dry skin. I would still use it though because I am not getting any younger, and I would like to reap the benefits of the essences in the product. This is also completely vegan and would satisfy those that want to avoid moisturizers containing by-products of animals.

I have not tried Creme de la Mer but I know that it contains processed sea kelp. Creme de la Rose has, aside from distilled Bulgarian Rose, marine red algae. I also read that Creme de la Mer has seaweed (or algae) extract as well. I'm not saying that these two products contain the exact same ingredients, as obviously, La Mer doesn't contain rose essence, but it may be an alternative for those people who can't afford $125 for an ounce of La Mer. La Rose is $75 for a 2 oz jar.

Did I like the Creme de la Rose? I did, but I would use it more frequently during winter as I know my winter skin would love this. Right now, it is too rich for my oily t-zone so I only use it on my neck and cheeks. However, for those looking for an intense, anti-aging moisturizer, this would be a good product to try.

The Body Deli is a great way to feed your skin fresh, wholesome nutrients. The chemical-free philosophy is also a great way to try naturally healthy products for the skin.

I've always had this desire to improve my brows, and these kit and products from Anastasia of Beverly Hills can be my ticket to beautiful, perfectly arched brows. It is one of the leading companies catering to anything and everything about perfect brows, so I'm excited to give the products a whirl.


I'm happy to be a part of the Garden of Wisdom cult, although I am still not adept in making my own skincare products, shampoo and what-not, I am loving Garden of Wisdom's finished products. I am trying the glacial clay mask that has been earning a lot of raves on their online forum, and so far I am sooo loving it. This is my second package from GoW. I've been using their Blue Mallow Hyaluronic Acid (HA) serum, the pineapple hydrating mist, the Anti-Puffy eye gel, the Melissa hydrosol and I've been loving all these. I will give a more in-depth review of this second batch of products after I've tested them out. I love the simplicity of GoW's products, the healthy, organic ingredients, and the affordable prices.


I bought the foundation in the munchkin jar for a friend because I tried Meow on her and she just absolutely loved it. The samples are my second batch of Meow Feliners (mineral eye liners) that I can't wait to use. These are some of the best mineral liners I've tried, and I love the wide array of colors.
