The Shades Of U's Top 12 Favorite Products of 2011

Without further ado, here are my top favorite products that I actually tried or have discovered in 2011. This is in no particular order. These products made me feel excited to do my makeup or nails these part 12 months. Here goes!

1. MAC Kissable Lipcolour in Flaunting It

Special Event Look Using Chanel Mat Lumiere, MAC Peacocky, Cham Pale and Mickey Contractor Products

I attended a wedding last weekend and I used some of my favorite products from the three most recent MAC collections of Peacocky, Cham Pale, and Mickey Contractor. The products were lovely and they went well with the makeup color palette I had in mind.

L-R: Chanel Mat Lumiere in Ginger 044, Beige 040

Top: Ginger
Bottom: Beige

Ginger and Beige blended

I also have to say that Chanel Mat Lumiere foundation is one of the best foundations I have ever tried for special events. It may be THE best foundation for special events for me right now. I had my makeup on for at least 13 hours, and it didn't budge at all. It didn't melt off my face, and still looked as immaculate in the late hours of the night during the reception as it did in the early afternoon wedding ceremony. The foundation looks amazingly flawless and it didn't look as if I had a thick mask of makeup on. It has a soft matte finish but it doesn't look like a flat matte. It gives a sort of soft glow that I really love.

My summer shade is Ginger, but lately I found that Beige is more my color because I lost whatever tan I had during the summer. However, I still mix a tiny bit of Ginger because Beige is a bit too light.

I will be making a separate review of Chanel Mat Lumiere, so watch out for it.

MAC Peacocky Swatches and Recap

For MAC Peacocky Initial Swatches and Review: Kissable Lipcolour and Mega Metal Shadows, CLICK HERE.

Here are the rest of the swatches of the Peacocky collection from MAC. I already did a review of the Mega Metal Shadows and Kissable Lipcolour in a separate post, so check out the link above for that. In the meantime, let me reiterate the very nice texture and pigmentation of both the eye and lip products in this collection. The Mega Metal Shadows are super buttery when applied, have a slight sheen finish, and very pigmented and rich. The big pot is also a plus. I got Centre Stage and Spectacle of Yourself because I know I would be using these as amazing crease and outer lid colors to create depth to my eye looks.

As for the lipcolours, I plan to use Flaunting It Kissable Lipcolour layered over Mehr lipstick from the Mickey Contractor collection for an upcoming wedding. I am loving this combination and I can't wait to post pictures of the wedding. The Kissable Lipcolours are like liquid lipsticks that give full colour. They are opaque, shine like there's no tomorrow, and glide like a dream on the lips. The added matte lipstick underneath these Lipcolours, as I'd mentioned above, will prolong their staying power.

So here are the swatches!

MAC Peacocky Collection

PEACOCKY
Arrogance or elegance? The showy display, the undeniably sexual spectacle, the iridescent irreverence…it’s awe-inspiring. We fetishize the exotic peacock as a symbol of extreme beauty, an act of elaborate nature, raging against everything simplistic. Peacocky fans out in a foray of intense colour for Lips and Eyes, exotic and sophisticated with a touch of ’30s F. Scott Fitzgerald glamour and mesmerizing metallic sheen. NEW Kissable Lipcolour combines full flash with creamy comfort. It’s molten, with elastomer technology that imparts a velvety, aerated feel without sacrificing shine. Light as a feather. Mega Metal Shadow gleams like chrome, with light-reflecting properties – yet creamy, crease-resistant, vitamin-fortified flexibility. Dramatic doesn’t even begin to describe the girl who knows she’s Peacocky.
