Illamasqua I'mperfection Collection Photos and Product Information

The world isn’t perfect. But who wants to be perfect anyway? I’mperfection is an open invitation to stand up and show the world what makes you perfectly, imperfect. We want you to highlight the features other brands encourage you to cover up and celebrate your imperfections like badges of honour. So show off your freckles. Make beauty spots more beautiful. Shine a light on your birthmarks. And be proud of your scars. Because life isn’t about finding yourself, life is about celebrating who you really are.

“Within the Word imperfection you ’ll find im perfection; sometimes the soul of the world is staring you in the face. It is our so called flaws that make us unique .  The beauty is in our differences, our imperfection is our beauty.”
Alex Box -creative director
“I'mperfection is definitive unique beauty.  It evokes raw emotion, it celebrates differentiation. Without differentiation We are all subject to become perfected beauty clones led by our own vanity”
David Horne – director new product development
“If there wasn’t any ridiculous etiquette i think that a good number of so called weeds could win the most beautiful flower contest hands down”
Julian Kynaston – illamasqua founder

Illamasqua's I’mperfection is available from 31st January 2013.

Nail Look: Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Kink

Instead of wearing red nails this coming holiday, why not wear green? It's also a Christmas color, and yet I haven't seen a lot of people wearing green nail polish during holiday parties or events.  Kink from Illamasqua's Theatre of The Nameless collection is a nice deep emerald or forest green that you can sport for Christmas eve dinner.  It is a deep green that is also quite festive given that it is the perfect green shade for the holiday.  It has a "rubber" finish which is in between a creme and a matte, but would be a great background for gold, red or green glitter, just like Party Hearty from China Glaze, or China Glaze Twinkle Lights.

Whatever you decide to do with Kink, it is a pretty yet unusual take on the holiday manicure.

Illamasqua Magenta Muse Collection Part 4: Nail Varnish Swatches and Review

Here is the last installment of my Illamasqua Magenta Muse Collection series. This time, we're focusing on the nail varnishes. I have a ton of nail polishes, but like I've said in the past, Illamasqua holds a special place in my stash. Their nail varnishes are creamy, applies well, and the colors are perfectly saturated and vibrant. Here are six polishes that are part of the Magenta Muse collection - from pastels to bright neons to dark, foreboding fall colors. Here they are:

Lament

Lament

This is a very pretty bright coral pink cream. Very glossy finish and this looks more summery than fall-ish. I like that it is a bordering on being a neon but is softer than a true neon. Very fun and feminine.

DWS

DWS

DWS is a cement grey cream. It also has that glossy finish that's quite mesmerizing. This is not a very unique shade but I think it's still lovely.

Jo'Mina

Jo'Mina

This is a refreshing pastel lilac cream. Again, not very unique, but I love purples and lilacs, so this is right up my alley. The formula is also the reason why this is one of my favorite lavenders.

Poke

Poke

Poke is a bright violet purple shimmer. If you're a purple fan like me, you'll love this. I would've liked it more if it were a cream or with a glossy finish instead of a shimmery one, but this is okay. It has a sheer curtain of silver shimmer that adds character to it.

Muse

Muse

This is my absolute favorite. When I saw all the varnishes from this collection, I was immediately drawn to Muse and had to wear it that day. It is a deap teal blue, or peacock blue with a glossy cream finish. The formula was a bit thicker than I expected, but it was surprisingly easy to control with the said consistency.

Scorn

Scorn

A matte black. I am not a fan of matte polishes, nor am I a fan of black polish. But it is admittedly mesmerizing. Looks like shiny black leather on my nails. I will not be wearing this on its own. I am thinking of using a silver Konad image on this.

All in all, this group of nail varnishes has something for everyone - for those who like bright, daring colors and others who prefer muted pastels, as well as for those rocker chicks that like matte dark polish. Quality of the product is very good, colors are varied, saturated and vivid. The price is a bit steep at $14 a pop, but you do get what you pay for.

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

The Magenta Muse collection is available June 14, 2011 in the U.S. at select Sephora stores and on Sephora.com

Illamasqua Toxic Nature Nail Varnish Swatches (Among Others)

Here are some Illamasqua nail varnish swatches. I have a ton of nail polishes, but my Illamasquas hold a special place in my stash. They are absolutely a breeze to apply, the nuances are amazing, the colors are rich and creamy, and the quality of the varnishes are above par. The shades in the Toxic Nature collection are of course one-of-a-kind and attention-grabbers. The first five swatches are from the Toxic Nature line. All swatches are two coats.

Purity

Purity

Purity is a creamy peach that is probably my least favorite. I am not fond of peach polishes as it always makes my hands look dirty or something. On the right skintone, though, this is a pretty polish for summer. I like that despite the light shade, it didn't streak or give me a difficult time in application.

Gamma

Gamma

"Retina-searing" is the perfect adjective to describe Gamma. This is a screaming neon orange that will definitely turn a few heads. I also like that this is neon but a cream, as some neons I have dry as mattes.

Radium

Radium

Aaaah!! Radium was my greatest lemming ever. I remember stalking the Sephora site to see when they would restock Radium as it was always sold out. I now have two of these and I am glad I do! One of my top ten polishes, for sure. A gorgeous lime green with lovely shimmer.

Bacterium

Bacterium

Yucky name, eh? I am drawn to this color which is a pearlized bronze. Looks very clean on the hands, though, and perfect for an office manicure, but is unique enough for a weekend get-together.

Stagnate

Stagnate

This is the usual mousy greyish taupe that we often see in a lot of collections last year. Because I feel this shade is a bit too common, I am not feeling it too much.

Here are other Illamasqua varnishes I have. Coming soon are the fall ones, so stay tuned!

Throb

Throb

This is the most beautiful, perfect red cream polish I own. I am sooo glad I have this. A blue-based red that should be a staple in every polish stash, but this one is so different. It is very pigmented, rich, and it was such a dream to apply- no streaks or pooling around the cuticles. I honestly can't get over how beautiful it is.

Phallic

Phallic

This is a deep midnight blue with beautiful shimmer. This is my favorite next to Radium and Throb. Gives your nails a sexy edge. I think this looks great on short, groomed nails.

As I said, my favorites are Radium, Throb and Phallic, but all are a pleasure to apply and the color choices are great. My only gripe is the relatively steep price of $14 each, but given the quality and color range, I think it is worth it.  Looking forward to swatching more Illamasqua nail varnishes!

Konad Nail Art: Illamasqua Nail Varnish in MILF

Funny name eh?  Very - hot momma-ish! lol!  Here's a spring nail look using Illamasqua Nail Varnish in MILF. It is a pretty vintage mint green that looks great with a lot of spring outfits. I am loving greens right now, so this is right up my alley. I used XL image plate B:

I used Konad special polish in Green. I added 2mm rhinestones in emerald green.

I usually love Illamasqua nail varnish formula- very smooth, easy to apply and blend. However, Milf was a tad thick, so I added a few drops of thinner, then it applied like a dream from then on. Loveleeeh!

NEW Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Shrapnel

Several months ago, Illamasqua launched a wide-reaching contest where over 6000 nail polish enthusiasts around the world submitted descriptions of their dream nail varnish colours in 50 words or less, accompanied by an image of their inspiration.

Three winners were eventually chosen to have their dream nail polish come true. Here are two of the three custom-made varnishes:

Here's how the contestants described the winning shades:

Shrapnel - “I have NEVER found my dream nail colour, a pink based metallic copper, like a shiny new penny – pure sex!” - Loren, Toronto, Canada.

Raindrops - “Inspired by a photograph I took from the monorail in Seattle, through the rain on the window you glimpse the Seattle Space Needle. I want a polish that looks like raindrops on my fingernails. A light, creamy grey with the sheerest silver glimmer, lightly reflective... like a raindrop.”– Ann, California

I have already featured Raindrops in a previous entry, so this time, I am featuring the copper penny nail polish called Shrapnel.

It is a very pretty color and it is indeed the pinkish copper you see in a shiny new penny. It is eye-catching and classy. The staying power is also very good with a base. I am impressed with the quality of Illamasqua varnishes.

Illamasqua started retailing these at illamasqua.com and at selected Selfridges stores across the UK from Monday 4th October. These will be available in the U.S. at Sephora stores; exact dates will be announced.

NEW Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Raindrops

Several months ago, Illamasqua launched a wide-reaching contest where over 6000 nail polish enthusiasts around the world submitted descriptions of their dream nail varnish colours in 50 words or less, accompanied by an image of their inspiration.

Three winners were eventually chosen to have their dream nail polish come true. Here are two of the three custom-made varnishes:

L-R: Raindrops, Shrapnel

Here's how the winners described their dream shades:

Shrapnel - “I have NEVER found my dream nail colour, a pink based metallic copper, like a shiny new penny – pure sex!” - Loren, Toronto, Canada.

Raindrops - “Inspired by a photograph I took from the monorail in Seattle, through the rain on the window you glimpse the Seattle Space Needle. I want a polish that looks like raindrops on my fingernails. A light, creamy grey with the sheerest silver glimmer, lightly reflective... like a raindrop.”– Ann, California

As for Raindrops, you can see the pretty flecks of silver shards in the bottle. They are gorgeous - they are not glitters but they are exactly as they are described, a sheer silver glimmer, lightly reflective. So pretty.

Notice the silver glimmer

I added some Konad using m80 image plate and Special Polish in White.

Illamasqua started retailing these at illamasqua.com and at selected Selfridges stores across the UK from Monday 4th October. These will be available in the US at Sephora stores; exact dates will be announced.
