Nubar Glitter, Prisms and Duo-Chrome Nail Lacquer Swatches

I did a post on Nubar swatches a while back, and I don't think I ever got to follow it up. Here are some swatches of my new Nubars that I got during their 30% off sale in November. The colors are gorgeous and the finishes are lovely, especially the ones from the Prisms collection.

Purple Rain is a beautiful micro-glitter lacquer in a dark purple base. I love the bling on this one.

Brilliant

Brilliant is holo-licious! It's from the Prisms collection and it's a beautiful pink base with lots of pink, gold holo. I love that it looks so clean on the nails.

Jewel

Jewel looks much better in real life, in my opinion. It is a brown base with multi-colored holo.

Indigo Illusion

Indigo Illusion is one of those duochrome finishes that look really amazing. It is blue or green or purple depending where and how light hits it.

Prize

Prize is like a fuchsia-red jelly base with glitter. It kinda looks gritty to my eyes.

Treasure

Treasure is one of my favorites from the Prisms collection, mainly because I am such a sucker for purples. It is a nice lilac base with holo. Like Brilliant, it looks really clean on the nails.

Watch out for more Nubar swatches!

Nubar Nail Lacquer Swatches and Review Part I

During Nubar's 30% off sale, I caved in and bought 15 polishes because I knew Nubar hardly does sales. Prior to this order, I only had four or five Nubars. I am satisfied with my haul and the colors are just gorgeous, and the different polish finishes are eye candy and definitely fascinating. Here are the first 6 swatches of my new Nubars.  All the swatches are 3-coaters:

Purple Rain

Purple Rain is a glitter polish and it is a very pretty dark blue purple glitter.  I am such a sucker for purples so this is one of my faves.  I also like that the glitters are not over-the-top, chunky ones, but are actually tiny and yield a smooth glass finish on the nails.

Petunia Sparkle

Petunia Sparkle is from the Sparkles collection, and it is a bright magenta sparkle in a clear base.  Reminds me of my toy fox terrier named Petunia - spunky, bright, but quite feminine. ;-)  I just don't like the chunkier particles compared to that of Purple Rain.

Gold Leaf

Gold Leaf is gorgeous.  It is a strong gold and copper bronze duochrome, and it is perfect on my skintone.  I love the smooth application and the beautiful finish.  This is one of my faves.

Purple Beach

Purple Beach reminds me of Orly Space Cadet - it is a purple/green/grey duochrome that looks so chic on the nails.  It pulls more purple on my nails that anything, though.

Marabout

Marabout is a muted brown creme that has grey undertones.  It is smooth, and quite easy to apply.  I would love to Konadify this with white and gold images.

Chiffon

Chiffon is from the Finest Silks collection, just like Marabout.  It is just a tad lighter than the latter, and it has more grey undertones than Marabout.  They are so similar that I even had a hard time distinguishing them in my swatch photos.

All in all, I liked my Nubar experience.  Shipping was really fast even though I ordered on the last day of the sale, which was supposed to be a hectic time for them.  I got my goodies in 3 days.  The formula is really smooth and easy to apply.  I had a problem with one of my manicures because I applied a regular top coat and then layered a speed dry top coat over it.  Well, my manicure got ruined because I waited only a few minutes before I used my hands and nails to do some chores, thinking that it would be the same drying time as with my other polishes.  For some reason, my Nubars took a bit longer to dry, but once they do, they don't budge.    Color selection is amazing, and they have a ton of different shades and finishes to choose from (my favorites from Nubar are the duochromes).  I still have several Nubars to swatch, so stay tuned for Part II.

My Nubar nail lacquer haul finally arrived at my doorstep last week. These are my first Nubars, and I have to say I really didn't feel like shelling almost eight bucks for each of these. I couldn't wait for a sale though (and I believe Nubar doesn't go on sale very often), because I'd been lemming for these colors for a while now. I must have these because it will be spring before I know it, and as you can see, most of these are fall-winter shades. However, that won't stop me from wearing them in the summer time! Can you see how gorgeous the shades are?

I love browns and Milk Chocolate Creme is no exception. I like that it's not TOO dark of a brown. I also like that it is in the creme formula, because as I said before, it's my favorite nail polish formula. I really love this, and can't wait to use it.

Chocolate Caramel, like Milk Chocolate Creme, is from the Chocolate Truffles collection. I love, love, love the gold highlights in this baby. It has a brown base with goldish green specks. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something about this polish that's hypnotizing.

Gawd, I love this polish. Raspberry Truffle is an amazing, dark base of a polish with shimmery red specks glowing throughout. I honestly love this, especially when light hits it. I am so happy with my choices, not one of them is a dud. I can't wait to wear this as well and show off the red sparkles!

Treasure is from the Prisms collection. Since I like purples and lilacs, I just had to have this. However, I feel like the other nail lacquers I got with this haul seem to attract me more than this one. It's beautiful, though, but I may fully appreciate it when spring comes.

Spark is also from the Prisms collection. I love how clean it looks on the fingers. It may look boring as a color, but the multi-dimensional holo amps up the look. I can't wait to wear it.

Wildlife is what I am wearing right now. It is a beautiful, beautiful green-based duochrome that I'm going crazy about. I love how it changes its look at every angle. I used my Konad special polish in Black to stamp over it using m39 image plate. I love the outcome. It's understated yet edgy.

All in all, I am very happy with my Nubar purchases.  If only these weren't a bit steep in price, I'd probably get a basket-full of these babies. Being free from ingredients that are carcinogenic (the Big 3) is also a major plus in any nail polish enthusiast's book.
