Nubar Nail Lacquer Swatches and Review Part I

During Nubar's 30% off sale, I caved in and bought 15 polishes because I knew Nubar hardly does sales. Prior to this order, I only had four or five Nubars. I am satisfied with my haul and the colors are just gorgeous, and the different polish finishes are eye candy and definitely fascinating. Here are the first 6 swatches of my new Nubars.  All the swatches are 3-coaters:

Purple Rain

Purple Rain is a glitter polish and it is a very pretty dark blue purple glitter.  I am such a sucker for purples so this is one of my faves.  I also like that the glitters are not over-the-top, chunky ones, but are actually tiny and yield a smooth glass finish on the nails.

Petunia Sparkle

Petunia Sparkle is from the Sparkles collection, and it is a bright magenta sparkle in a clear base.  Reminds me of my toy fox terrier named Petunia - spunky, bright, but quite feminine. ;-)  I just don't like the chunkier particles compared to that of Purple Rain.

Gold Leaf

Gold Leaf is gorgeous.  It is a strong gold and copper bronze duochrome, and it is perfect on my skintone.  I love the smooth application and the beautiful finish.  This is one of my faves.

Purple Beach

Purple Beach reminds me of Orly Space Cadet - it is a purple/green/grey duochrome that looks so chic on the nails.  It pulls more purple on my nails that anything, though.

Marabout

Marabout is a muted brown creme that has grey undertones.  It is smooth, and quite easy to apply.  I would love to Konadify this with white and gold images.

Chiffon

Chiffon is from the Finest Silks collection, just like Marabout.  It is just a tad lighter than the latter, and it has more grey undertones than Marabout.  They are so similar that I even had a hard time distinguishing them in my swatch photos.

All in all, I liked my Nubar experience.  Shipping was really fast even though I ordered on the last day of the sale, which was supposed to be a hectic time for them.  I got my goodies in 3 days.  The formula is really smooth and easy to apply.  I had a problem with one of my manicures because I applied a regular top coat and then layered a speed dry top coat over it.  Well, my manicure got ruined because I waited only a few minutes before I used my hands and nails to do some chores, thinking that it would be the same drying time as with my other polishes.  For some reason, my Nubars took a bit longer to dry, but once they do, they don't budge.    Color selection is amazing, and they have a ton of different shades and finishes to choose from (my favorites from Nubar are the duochromes).  I still have several Nubars to swatch, so stay tuned for Part II.

The Shades Of  U Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
