The other end of the eye brushes

I've posted my Video Review on my theBalm products, and I've raved how amazing the makeup items are, particularly the Balm Jovi face palette, the Hot Mama and Frat Boy blushes, Meet Matt(e) palette and several more products, and although I've talked about these blushes in the video review, I've yet to write a written review on these.  theBalm's brush collection called Powder to the People is a fun-looking set of brushes.  I love the colorful handles, the fun lettering of the names, and of course, the names themselves.  I like the play of words in all of theBalm's products!

theBalm Powder to the People brush collection has two face brushes, and three super cute double-ended eye brushes.  I like the concept of the dual-ended brushes because you save space and you just flip the brush to use the other end.  Pretty nifty, I would say.

Here are my thoughts on the individual brushes.

Give Crease a Chance: Double-ended shader and duo-fibre crease brush

I think Give Crease a Chance is my favorite eye shadow brush from this collection.  It features a rather large shader brush on one end- it's great for an all-over wash on the lid or to highlight the browbone.  It's also quite soft.  The other end is a not-so-stiff-but-not-too-soft duo-fibre crease brush with a slightly tapered head- perfect to apply crease color or to blend harsh edges.

Crease, Love and Happiness- small crease brush on one end and stiff shader brush on other end

 Small crease brush

small stiff shader brush

Crease, Love and Happiness is a nice double ended brush for detail eye work.  The crease brush is a lot smaller than the duo-fibre brush in the Give Crease a Chance brush.  It's good for applying the darkest color on the outer lid or crease.  The small shader brush is stiff and perfect for applying color on the lid.

Eye Believe! Double-sided Eyebrow and Eyeliner brush

 Eyeliner side

 Eyebrow side

I like that theBalm thought of including an eyebrow brush to its collection.  It has a thick edge, and blunt and very angled tip which is perfect because it's not too thin like an angled liner brush, and stiff enough to really shape your brows.  The eyeliner side is very unique, I don't see many brands have this kind of eyeliner brush shape.  theBalm is one of the few brands (I can think of Laura Mercier) that has this kind of pointy, pen-like brush tip for eyeliner.

theBalm foundation brush
Blend a Hand

Blend a Hand is supposed to be a tapered foundation brush.  I feel it's much too stiff for a foundation brush, albeit soft.  It's great as a concealer brush for the undereye area, though, and the softly rounded edges are great for applying concealer around the nostrils.

I was not able to take a close up shot of the Powder to the People powder blush, but it's a nicely-sized brush with a quite long handle and a slightly stiff (but very soft) head.  I like the stiffness because it doesn't splay too much which is perfect to prevent powder from falling all over the place.  I love this brush; it's my favorite powder blush!

All in all, I think this is a solid group of brushes that were obviously designed with care.  I like the dual-edged concept for the eye brushes, and although I think Blend a Hand is too stiff for a foundation brush, I like it as an undereye concealer to apply my favorite salmon-colored mineral concealer to hide undereye circles.

These brushes are available on theBalm website, and are regularly on sale on
