Sue Devitt Lipstick and Lipgloss Swatches and Review

I have been a fan of Sue Devitt cosmetics ever since I fell in love with their Eye Intensifier Pencils. Those were truly some of the best eye crayons (that can act as shadow, liner, base) that I've tried. This time, I am reviewing their lipstick and lipgloss lines.

Sue Devitt has two kinds of lipsticks, the Balanced Sheer Lipstick and the Balanced Matte Lipstick. I have one from each of these finishes: Great Australian Bight from the matte line and Villefranche from the Sheer line.

Villefranche, Great Australian Bight

Villefranche, Great Australian Bight

Villefranche is a sheer peachy pink, while Great Australian Bight is a pigmented dark reddish plum. As you can see, the Matte is not exactly a matte; it still has a slight sheen to it, although it is a lot more pigmented than the Sheer. I think I like the mattes better because the sheers are a little bit too sheer for my taste. I want my lipstick to last and not fade, and I think the sheers will not last long on my lips.

Lipglosses:

Alanya, Bermuda Triangle

I am really liking the lipgloss from Sue Devitt. It has a nice silver cap with brush applicator as opposed to a sponge one. I also like the fact that every tube holds substantial product - it is considerably larger than your regular MAC lipglass, and it has 4.5 g/.15 oz of product. It is neither too thick that feels too tacky on the lips, nor is it too runny that it fades as soon as you apply it. It has great wear and I like how it feels on my lips.

Sue Devitt's gloss is called the Lip Enhancing Gloss. Designed to impart a gorgeous, sheer wash of color, Microquatic Lip Enhancing Gloss fills in fine lines and wrinkles to give lips a smoother, fuller appearance. It has Peptide-5 promotes collagen production. Alanya is my fave- it's a beautiful peachy pink creamy gloss with subtle flecks of shimmer. This is the perfect companion of Villefranche lipstick. Bermuda Triangle is a beautiful one too - a goldish bronze that has chunkier shimmer flecks than Alanya, but it is also sheerer than the latter. I didn't like the scent of this one - it was too strong - I hope I only got a dud!

The only downside of these products is the price- lipsticks retail for $20 and lipglosses for $22. Sue Devitt is a high-end beauty product that has a niche client base. All in all, Sue Devitt's lip products are great if you want a nice treat for yourself and loved one- they feel luxurious and the shades are classy, classic hues. The packaging is not gaudy at all and can be even be called minimalist. I especially like that their lip gloss just has the perfect texture.
