Dear Patti:
I’m a bit confused about fragrance terminology. I’ve trying to pick a fragrance that matches my personality and all I see is tops notes, base notes and middle notes – what is this? Signed, Intrigued
Dear Intrigued:
Fragrance descriptions can get a bit tricky but no worries there’s nothing too complicated about it. Fragrance notes explain all the delicious blends you’re smelling, to put it in layman’s terms, the top note is the fragrance that makes the first impression, the scent that you initially smell, while the middle note is the heart of the fragrance, finally the base note is the signature of the fragrance, usually the heaviest scent. Let’s take the classic fragrance, Downtown Girl by Revlon (eau de parfum 1.5 ounces $9.79), its top notes (the scent you’ll smell first), includes: bergamot, jasmine and gardenia, and its base notes (the perfume’s signature spicy scent), includes: patchouli, sandalwood, cedarwood and musk. Hope this helps!
Dear Patti:
No matter the season my lips are always chapped! Whether I’ve been playing volleyball on the beach or spent the day on the slopes, my lips are dried-out, chapped and painful! What can I use to soothe my lips? Sincerely, Always Chapped
Dear Always Chapped:
Chapped, sun burnt lips are both uncomfortable and unattractive and it’s hard to believe that no matter the temperature our lips can feel the damaging effects of the sun. Protect your puckers and give them a dash of energy with Murad’s Energizing Pomegranate Lip Therapy SPF 15, a dose of this delicious balm will shield your lips from the elements and provide relief to already scorched lips. Best of all, this name brand Lip Therapy will only set you back a mere $15.50.
Dear Patti:
My wedding day is quickly approaching (3 weeks to be exact) and I have yet to pick a fragrance to wear on my special day. I want my scent to be romantic, beautiful and classic, what do you suggest? With love, Future Mrs.
Dear Bride-to-Be:
Nothing exudes bride like Vera Wang. Her classic designs and romantic couture comes alive in her debut fragrance, Vera Wang by Vera Wang (eau de parfum 1.7 ounces $48.19). This truly feminine fragrance captivates romance with notes of sweet mandarin, whimsical lotus and exotic iris. With this classic scent you’ll be radiating love all night long. Cheers!

Vera Wang Flower Princess Fragrance Review
Tuesday, July 14, 2009
I've had the opportunity to try this Vera Wang fragrance variant courtesy of PerfumeCenter.com. This is a discount online perfume store that sells original fragrance brand names up to 70% off retail. The store was kind enough to send me a sample of the fragrance to test. First of all, I really, really like the packaging. It is very feminine and I definitely love the pretty crown cap with the faux jewels. This fragrance reminds me of a warm summer day in a flower field. Its notes are Green Ivy, Tangerine, Water Lily, Orange Flower Petals, Moroccan Rose, Jasmine Sambac, Riviera Mimosa, Apricot Skin, Amber, Woods, Musk. It's decidedly lighter than its sister Vera Wang Princess, which for me is perfect especially in this scorching summer heat.
Its style is casual and romantic, perfect for a summer night date. It is light and it's not cloying at all, given the fact that I have sensitive olfactory nerves. It fades quite nicely on my skin, although the dry-down scent is not that distinct anymore (the flower factor fades off). If you like flowery, summer scents, this might be a good scent to try. I would have to say though that this scent is not as univeral as some of the other scents I've tried and loved. Some people will really not like this, because it took me a while to like the scent on my skin. If your body chemistry does agree with this fragrance, then it is a keeper.
If you want to check out Vera Wang Flower Princess or other original brand name fragrances all at discounted prices, you might want to check out PerfumeCenter.com. While you're there, use this code to score an additional 10% off your entire purchase: "theshadesofu". Enjoy the coupon code and celebrate the summer with lush, romantic fragrances.
