How To Use Mineral Eye Liner

There are some who are afraid to use mineral eyeliners because they simply don't know how to or are intimidated by it. It has a little bit of a learning curve, but it's really not that hard, especially if you have been used to applying gel or liquid liners in the past. The advantage of using mineral eyeliners is that the possibilities are simply endless- there are thousands of different mineral eyeshadow shades, and you can create your own liners by simply applying them dry, or wet for a dramatic effect, or you can mix them with your other mineral eyeliners or eye-safe glitters for your very own customized eyeliner.

Another plus of mineral eyeliner is that you can experiment with bold colors without the risk of putting too much color on your eye. Since you only apply the liner on the lashline, you get to have understated but eye-catching shades that kick your look up a notch. If you want a maroon eyeliner, or a teal one, you can easily pull it off because the color only sits on your lashline, unlike eyeshadows that occupy bigger space on your lid.

The only things you need are an eyeliner brush, a condiment sauce container and a sealant or mixing medium such as MAC Fix+ spray or MAC Charged Water. The mixing medium will help the mineral liner adhere better on the eye. As always, I don't recommend plain water as the liner can look crumbly after the water has evaporated.

My favorite eyeliner brush for my mineral eyeliners is my Sonia Kashuk bent eye liner brush. It's also my favorite when applying gel liners:

Here's an easy step-by-step:

Sprinkle a small bit of mineral liner/shadow on your condiment sauce holder.

Spray a tiny bit of your mixing medium on a separate part of the saucer.

Slowly mix the two substances together using your eyeliner brush, enough to make a thin paste. If you think you put way too much mixing medium, take a tissue and try to soak up the mixing medium before you mix it with the mineral liner.

Apply on your lashline just like you would a gel or liquid liner. I used Aromaleigh Drama Queen eyeliner in Red.

I used Aromaleigh Drama Queen in Teal.
