China Glaze Vintage Vixen Swatches Part 2

Ingrid

For some odd reason, Ingrid is one of my most favorites from the Vintage Vixen collection. It is described as a "greige" creme with copper micro glitter, but I don't see much of the grey. It is more mushroomy with gold-ish flecks to my eyes. I LOVE, love, love this, though. I had misplaced this and I couldn't sleep when I couldn't find it, haha. So glad it was just lost in the maze of countless China Glazes in my Helmer.


Classic Camel

Classic Camel is a khaki cream with gold micro-glitter that I am on the fence about. I am not sure if this works with my skintone. Sometimes I feel it looks clean and bright on my hands, and sometimes I feel it looks like crap. However, I am leaning toward the "clean and bright" side because that's how I feel the longer I look at the swatch pic. This would probably look great Konadified with a darker polish.


Foxy

Foxy is a burgundy frost with shimmer that is really pretty. It doesn't have micro-glitter so this is a straight frost which I thought I would loathe, but it's actually quite pretty. Chic and very fall.


Hey Doll

Hey Doll is a rose frost with shimmer. Not a favorite as this looks a little too dated for me. A definite mom color, though, and would actually look amazing on the right skintone.


Emerald Fitzgerald

Another winner! May be the most popular one in the collection and I believe will be a cult favorite.  Emerald Fitzgerald is described as a gorgeous, gorgeous turquoise green frost with shimmer. It is not turquoise to my eyes at all, but true to its name, is like a stunning deep emerald green. Love, love, love. I would kill for this polish. Heh.


First Class Ticket

This is a lovely deep purple frost with shimmer that would look great both on the tips and toes. As I said, I am usually not a fan of frosts but the color is just beautiful.  First Class Ticket is another pretty polish to herald the coming of fall.

All in all, the Vintage Vixens were a pleasant surprise. I had thought they were going to be the dreaded 70s-and-80s frost I grew up seeing on my mom's hands (I love her to bits, but those kind of frosts are too dated-looking now). Instead, China Glaze incorporated a lot of micro-glitter in some of the shades to give a different texture and finish to the otherwise frosty look. It also tremendously modernized the frost. The colors are also very up-to-date and interesting. Kudos again to China Glaze for giving a different perspective to the traditional frost finish.

My favorites are definitely Emerald Fitzgerald, Ingrid, Midnight Mission and Riveter Rouge. The rest are also pretty colors that would pique your interest in varying degrees, of course your favorite colors would greatly influence your perspective. Have fun playing with the Vintage Vixens!

China Glaze Vintage Vixen Swatches Part I

Here are the first six swatches of the China Glaze Fall 2010 Vintage Vixen collection. I am liking some of the shades from this collection a lot. I thought that they were too frosty or metallic-y for my taste, but they're not the 80s-frosty look I was fearing. Goodie!


Swing Baby

Swing Baby is described as a taupe frost with silver micro glitter. I think this is a wee bit too glittery for my taste, but this can be a good pedicure color as it makes the hands and feet look clean (not to mention really bling-y).


Goin' My Way

This is a brown frost with copper shimmer. It's frosty but entirely wearable. The copper shimmer adds oomph to an otherwise boring color.


Riveter Rouge

This is a deep red shimmer with I believe gold and red microglitter. Very festive and would look great for holiday occasions. I would definitely wear Riveter Rouge on my toes with sexy strappy sandals. Yummy!


Bogie

Bogie is a very pretty eggplant/plum frost with shimmer. I love eggplant shades so this is definitely right up my alley.


Midnight Mission

Midnight Mission is a navy blue frost with silver micro-glitter. Another nice, deep frost that doesn't scream 80s to me because the shade and the kind of frost finish it has are not dated. I can't wait to use this.


Jitterbug

As I had mentioned in a previous entry, Jitterbug is a pretty gunmetal chrome with silver micro-glitter. This is similar to my Zoya Freja, but Jitterbug is flashier because of the silver micro-glitter. I love these kinds of shades as they are edgy and yet still wearable.

All in all, I was very scared that the frosts from the Vintage Vixen collection would turn out to be the dated ones that I remember my mom used to wear when I was 5 or 6 years old. It turns out that these are not as frosty as I had feared, and the micro-glitter toned down the frost and gave it a different flavor and texture.

Konad Nail Art Using China Glaze Vintage Vixen in Ingrid

OMG I love this new polish from China Glaze Vintage Vixen collection.  Ingrid is probably my most favorite out of all the ones from this collection.  It is a gorgeous cool taupe/mushroom/brown with gold shimmer.  Definitely love at first sight for me. I Konadified it using m26 image plate and China Glaze polish in Passion. I love the brown and gold effect. I also like that the combination is not in-your-face so this is perfectly wearable at work for me. Stay tuned for the rest of the Vintage Vixen collection swatches!

China Glaze Fall 2010 Vintage Vixen: Jitterbug Swatch

I will be swatching the rest of the China Glaze Vintage Vixen Fall Collection 2010 this weekend, but here is my current Nail of The Day. I think this is one of my faves from the collection. Jitterbug is a pretty gunmetal chrome with silver micro-glitter. This is similar to my Zoya Freja, but Jitterbug is flashier because of the silver micro-glitter.
