Springy Floral Nail Art Using Nail Polishes Found at Target

(sponsored post)

Spring is here, and what better way to celebrate it than spring-y nail color and nail art!
Spring calls for floral shades and floral nail art.  It's pretty easy to do nail art, especially with flowers.  All you need are vibrant spring shades, and a dotting tool, or even a toothpick.

Dotting tool set

I practiced dotting my design on a piece of cardboard; I poured small pools of the shades to dip my dotting tool in to create my design.

You can find a wide variety of nail polish shades and nail care products from Target.  For this particular springy floral nail art design, I used Covergirl Outlast in #285 Mint Mojito, Maybelline New York Color Show nail lacquer in #320 Green With Envy from the permanent collection, and a limited edition Maybelline New York Color Show nail lacquer in #920 Coral Glow.

I also used the Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat to seal my nail art and create a glossy, shiny finish.

Covergirl Outlast in #285 Mint Mojito and Maybelline New York Color Show nail lacquer in #320 Green With Envy are the perfect greens to symbolize spring, and Maybelline New York Color Show nail lacquer in #920 Coral Glow is a beautiful pop of coral to accentuate the floral nail art.

For this nail look, I used Covergirl Outlast in Mint Mojito on the index and ring fingers, and Maybelline Color Show in Green With Envy on the middle and pinkie fingers.  I let these dry for around 10-15 minutes, then I alternately used these shades to draw flower petals on my nails using a dotting tool (shown above).  I let the petals dry, then I applied the center dot using Maybelline Color Show in Coral Glow using the dotting tool.

I let the entire design dry, then I applied Revlon Quick Dry Topcoat to seal the design and protect it while giving it a high-gloss shine.

It was quite easy for me to do, even though I am not particularly a nail artist.  A dotting tool is your best friend, and of course easy-to-work with shades and formulas like the brands that I used.

I liked the products that I used for this nail art because they were very easy to apply, relatively quick dry time, and they did not streak at all.  The nail polishes were very creamy and were fully opaque in two coats.  They were very good in applying the petals using the dotting tool as well.  They form perfect dots on the nails without being patchy in some areas.  As you notice, the dots were pretty well formed and even in color through-out the entire design.

It was my first time to use Covergirl nail polish and I was pretty impressed with the formula - neither too thick nor too runny.  Maybelline Color Show in Coral Glow may be hands-down my best coral nail polish (or at least my top 3), and since I have tons of nail polishes, that says a lot.

All in all, I am glad I picked these products and shades as they worked and behaved quite well for this nail art look.

What are your favorite nail polish shades for spring?

It's time for springtime.
