Ciate Caviar Manicure

If you have been following my blog for a while, you know that I am currently loving blingy or glitter polishes. I like that they give dimension to a tried and tested boring creme polish, and the sparkle and shine are perfect for the upcoming holidays.

I have already posted my Ciate Caviar Manicure Tutorial and Review, and here is another 3-D nail look from Ciate, this time using sequins for your perfect holiday nail look.

I was able to try this innovative kind of applying glitter on your nails.  It's called the Sequin Manicure from Ciate, and it has a kit that contains all the items you need for the sequin manicure.  You get a pot of sequins, a tiny brush to clean excess sequins off your nails and fingers, and the Sequin Glitter Grip that will make the sequins adhere to your nailbeds.

Here is a step-by-step, although I forgot to photograph the first step which is to paint your nails with the Sequin Glitter Grip that is included in this kit.

Before the Sequin Glitter Grip dries, dip your finger into the pot of glitter.  Work with one nail at a time.

Like so.

Pat the nailbed using your finger to flatten the sequins.  Clean off extra sequins using the brush that came with the kit.

Wait for 15-20 minutes, then apply a final top coat of Sequin Glitter Grip.

I gotta say that this kind of mani is VERY eye-catching indeed!  A few curious souls asked about my mani and how come the sequins didn't fall right off.  The 3D effect turns quite a few heads.  Obviously this is not for an everyday mani, but this would be great for the upcoming holidays especially New Year's Eve parties.

The secret here is to apply the Sequin Glitter Grip maybe twice over the sequins to secure them.  They are pretty secure but of course over time several sequins will fall off.

This is obviously not for the conservative but if you want your nails to be the center of attention, check out this kit at Sephora.com that retails for $19.
