Zoya Holiday 2011: Gems and Jewels Collection Swatches and Review

Here are some swatches and review of the Zoya Gems and Jewels collection, Zoya's winter offering for this year. It features three jewel-toned metallic shimmer polishes, and three glitter polishes. Here are some thoughts on these.

Twila

Twila is a a full coverage, icy blue metallic shimmer. It is pretty, but not my favorite from the collection. I love blues though so this will have a special place in my collection. I think this would look great paired with a Konad image in white cream. Very icy, wintry combination.

Noel

Noel is a bold blue with bar glitter. Fun, fun, fun! The bar glitter does kinda turn some people off because it looks furry or like bacteria under a microscope, but this is a fun product and I really like it, it perks up boring manicures. I apply a couple of layers of top coat over it and it doesn't feel gritty or anything. Lovely nail look for the holidays.

Kissy

I love Kissy! It's a beautiful metallic pink shimmer. Very festive! I can't say anything else about this except that this is gorgeous especially for parties; the perfect "Look at my nails!" pink.

Izzy

Izzy is a vivid pink with gold, lilac, and pink bar glitter. Looks kinda furry but like Noel, it feels smooth under top coat. This is wild and fun and is the perfect party nail color.

Rina

Rina is one of my top favorites from this collection. It is a beautiful emerald green shimmer. Also very Christmas-y. This would look great with Holly on top.

Holly

Holly is the holiday version of Noel and Izzy. The green bar glitter reminds me pine needles. Very festive and bright. Love it.

All in all, I like how Zoya made coordinating shades of the shimmer and the glitter polishes which would be great for layering. The glitter shades can also be layered over other colors for a unique look, as the glitters really stand out on their own. Try black or white or colored creams as a base for these glitter polishes, I bet they would look awesome. As for the shimmers, I am liking them except for Twila. The metallic finish really screams holiday and are great colors for upcoming events.

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.25 out of 5 stars

Oh my gosh, Noel must be mine o.o I don't usually go for that kind of strip glitter but Noel is stunning!

Yes it is! I think it's even more stunning over a darker base.
