MAC Holiday 2011: Ice Parade Snowglobe Cool Eye Shadow x6 Palette Swatches and Review

Snowball, Illegal Cargo
Idol Eyes, Warm & Smoky
Howzat, Set to Dance

Here are clearer close-up photos of the MAC Ice Parade Eyeshadow X6 Palette in Cool. It has six shadows that are beautifully coordinated for a cool-hued eye look. Since this years holiday collection has ice and glitter as its main themes, the front of the compact has this really pretty-looking snowglobe. It can be a pain to store this, however, because of the domed cover which takes up more space in drawers and such. The colors are quite pretty, though. Illegal Cargo is pale lavender that I really love to use for the lid. Take note that in the 2008 collection called Naughty Naughticals when Illegal Cargo first came out, it was described as a "Mid-tone frosty grayed plum (frost)", similar to Flirty Number. This time, Illegal Cargo is a lighter lilac. How weird!

Snowball is a frost white, great for highlighting; Warm & Smoky is a medium purple lavender in the veluxe pearl formula; this is a great shade for either the lid or outer V.  Idol Eyes is a lustre- I use this on the center of the eye. Because Idol Eyes is a lustre, it draws light in and gives a beautiful shimmery lilac-pewter effect on the center of the eyes. Howzat is a slate color that I use on the outer lid. Set To Dance is a dark royal blue matte.

Pigmentation is decent to good, and the shades will pop more with a sticky or colored base.  The combination of shades is not that unique, however.   I've seen several of these lavender and purple shades come out in past holiday collections.  However, I think that MAC meant for these shades to be similar year after year, as I believe their target are not the regular MAC customer, but these are like introductory products for people who will be recipients of these gifts.

Here is a look using some of the colors from the Cool palette, except that the inner lid is Miss Piggy Pink (review coming up!).
