Mally Beauty Poreless Face Defender Review

I bought this Mally Poreless Face Defender on QVC around mid-spring of this year. I knew I would need oil blotting sheets or a blot product to absorb excess oil and keep my makeup fresh during the scorching hot summer days. I wanted a product that would keep a fresh veil of nothingness on my face (i.e. nothingness vs. caked on powder) and make my makeup look flawless the whole day. I was reading the reviews of this product on the QVC site and thought that it was a worthwhile product to try. Mally Beauty is by celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal. She is a Filipino-American who I believe has a family skincare history to begin with (her mom's a dermatologist? I am not sure), and eventually created her own cosmetics brand.

The Poreless Face Defender can be used to set your makeup, and also for touchups to keep your makeup looking fresh. It gives a soft dewy matte look and blurs imperfections, and reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines. This is a silicone-based product (but gentle enough for my acne-prone skin). It has the following ingredients: Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, PCA Dimethicone, Silica.

MY TAKE: First of all, I would have to say that my major gripe is that the sponge does not have any case, so you would need your own sandwich bag to place it in while you travel with it. It is a springy sponge, just like those Beauty Blender sponge thingies. You swipe it on the product and dab (not wipe) the sponge on your face to mattify it and to freshen your makeup. It actually does what it promises to do - it gives the face a soft matte finish, while preserving the makeup and keeping it fresh and lasting throughout the day. The silica in it also helps to blur imperfections and smooth out the appearance of fine lines and pores. However, if you apply too much, you would see a fine white film on your face, so apply sparingly.

This is a good product for travel because the compact is very convenient. If you use High Definition loose powder, this is better because it is not messy at all. I would love for Mally to make a more travel-friendly sponge applicator, though, or make it smaller so it would fit the compact.

Other than those downsides, this is a solid product that you would bring with you for those quick, no-mess touchups.

that is a good product to think about. i've oily skin and i find it troublesome to always bring a brush to reapply powder when i feel like my makeup's alrady melting. :D

you're right about the sponge having no case! that's my major downside of this product too... but this is really a great stuff to add in anyone's make up collection! ;) i use this also as a primer and it works awesome! great review :)
