Anastasia Beverly Hills Blue Lotus Mist Review

When I went to the Anastasia Brow Event in Nordstrom where I was able to meet Anastasia herself, I was able to try the Blue Lotus Mist that was just about to be launched. However, I didn't fully appreciate the product after a couple of spritzes. Upon trying it regularly to set my makeup, though, I now have a few words to say about it.

Here is how Anastasia Beverly Hills describes its new product (Disclaimer: claims belong to the manufacturer, not this website's):

Introducing Blue Lotus Mist From Anastasia Beverly Hills
To Revive Complexion and Provide Skin With An Instant Burst of Radiance!

Los Angeles, CA – Anastasia Soare has been the Definitive Brow and Eye Expert for Hollywood’s elite for the past twenty years. Following the success of her cosmetics line, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Anastasia launched her first ever skincare collection nationwide in late December 2009! In expanding her skincare line for Spring and Summer 2010, Anastasia announces the launch of Blue Lotus Mist. This new product is the perfect fusion of hydrating water and a soothing serum that provides soothing relief for stressed skin.

Blue Lotus Mist contains flower extracts from South Africa that revive dull and tired complexions and provide skin with an instant burst of radiance. The Chinese symbol for life, the Blue Lotus has been preserving the beauty of Asian women for over 5,000 years. As an icon of purity and peace, this calming essence detoxifies with rich antioxidants. Blue Lotus Mist also contains Anastasia’s exclusive Balkan Botanical® Infusion, a blend of rare plant and herb extracts found only in the rich soil of Romania. This unique and exclusive blend has the power to soften, soothe and restore the skin’s natural radiance.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Blue Lotus Mist Key Ingredients:

Blue Lotus Mist will launch exclusively at Nordstrom locations nationwide in May 2010 and retail for $26.00.

My Take: I have been using this regularly for the past few weeks and I like the refreshing light scent of the product. When the company claims that this calms the senses, it truly does, at least in my experience. I think the difference between this hydrating mist and other mists in the market is that it is both a hydrating mist and aromathery product, as well as a skincare item.

As a hydrating mist, I like that it fully sets my makeup. I spritz this on my face two or three times to set my eye makeup as well as blush and foundation, and the entire makeup does not budge for the entire day. Also, I use mineral makeup so I do the "liquid application" of mineral makeup as follows: I swirl, tap and buff the mineral foundation onto the skin, I take the Blue Lotus mist and spritz two or three times on my face, then buff and blend the mineral foundation and the mist. The result: Flawless, liquid-mineral makeup goodness without the additives and parabens of regular liquid foundation that clog the pores. I also use this to foil my mineral eyeshadows and it works great to make the loose pigments adhere to tthe lids and make the shadows last a long time.

As an aromatherapy product, I spritz Blue Lotus mist on my face when I feel stressed, and I don't know if it's just psychological or whatever, but I feel somewhat calmed and relaxed after I inhale the subtle scent. It's kinda like what lavender essential oil does to my senses.

As a skincare item, Anastasia claims that the Blue Lotus mist contains flower extracts from South Africa that revive dull and tired complexions and provide skin with an instant burst of radiance, and that it reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Now I cannot say anything about this as I have not seen any results based on this claim YET, but will update this review once I do. I do notice however that the mist does give a dewy, radiant appearance without looking too greasy on the skin.

The only downside that I can think about this product is the price. It is a bit pricey at $26 for a 4.0 fl oz product. Keep in mind though that this is not just purified water; it has Blue Lotus extracts, Vitamin B1 and B6, Balkan Botanical® Infusion and aloe vera that also cost the manufacturer.
