Spring Colour Forecast 4 (Beige/Bronze Cluster)

As I mentioned in a previous entry, I attended the MAC Spring Colour Forecast unveiling party, and it was a blast. I liked the colors because MAC really has an all-encompassing collection this year. There is a gamut of offerings covering a wide range of shades and color palettes. The first cluster is the pink one called Spring Colour 1. I will be doing a review of this group in this entry. Check out other entries for the remaining Spring Colour Forecast palettes.

Lipsticks:

No flash

Phlox is a sheer light pink which is in the glaze formula. To tell you honestly, I am not a fan of glaze, and the very sheer and light pigmentation of the product hardly showed up on my skin.

Bubblegum is a light lavender pink. Even though it's also a glaze, I like this a lot better than Phlox. I am drawn to light, lilac lips and this one is a favorite of mine.

Laugh a Lot is a mauve pink in the lustre formula. I have a lot of mauves so I might skip this one, but it is also a very pretty, wearable shade.

Pink Burst is a clean bright pink with pearl. It's a frost, and I am usually not drawn to bright fuchsias, but this one is such a pretty, happy pink that I am just enamored. I will probably get this one.

Lipglasses:

Cultureclash- I'm pretty sure this is a repromote from a previous collection. This is a frosty clear baby pink with multi-dimensional pearl. This is the kind of lipglass I usually wear. I like the multi-dimensional pearl because it is very light-reflective; it makes the lips look super moist and luscious. Love this.

Electric Fuchsia is a blue-based pink. I like it because of the blue pink base. This would look amazing with Bubblegum lipstick because of the purple undertones.

Hush Hush Rose looks watermelon to my eyes. I may be wrong, but this is a warm shade. I am not very fond of this, but it does look pretty on the right skintone.

Crushed Metal Pigments - Stacked! 1:

I like the new stackable pigments a lot. MAC probably realized that the old pigment jars really don't get used up by a lot of people because of the incredible amount of product it can hold. Selling them in huge jars caused the proliferation of reselling of pigments, and some sinister business minds defraud buyers by selling fake pigment samples. Stackable jars are just perfect because you get a lesser amount of product which you don't get to finish anyway, but to my eyes they still hold a lot. I guess MAC followed the example of small mineral makeup companies that hold their loose pigments also in stackable jars.

I liken these stackable pigments to a MAC quad in loose form. Stacked! 1 has 4 complementary shades that work as lid, highlight, liner and crease colors. The pale pink is a frost that I really like. Great for the lid and to highlight. The light lilac is a beautiful color, but it is very chunky and difficult to apply dry. It is gritty in texture, which reminds me of Milk pigment from the Hello Kitty collection last year. I suggest using a mixing medium when applying this as it will make application easier.

The mid-tone rose is a lovely color that I plan to use either as a crease or lid color. I love the romantic shade. Lastly, the dark purple is a nice liner or crease shade, and would also be perfect for a beautiful purple-based smoky eye. I am excited to use these as I really love pinks and purples.

Eyeshadows:

Very Violet is a mid to dark violet that is a frost. It is pretty but I already have a lot of colors of the same shade, so I think I'm going to pass on this.

Rosy Outlook is a frosted baby pink that is a satin, that means it can look a bit flat, but would be perfect if you don't like shimmery lids. I don't have a swatch of this, or maybe I did but it didn't show up on my skin. I didn't like the color pay-off.

La la is a mid-tone pink that I would probably get if only I didn't have too many pink shadows. This shade is a staple and if you like pinks, this shue is a must for you.

Da Bling is a pink with gold pearl that got sold out during the same unveiling party! It sold out so fast I didn't even have time to swatch it properly, but you can see a faint swatch in the picture above. It's very pretty and I might get it when the collection formally launches in stores next week.

Blush Ombre in Azalea Blossom:

At first I thought I was going to like (and eventually get) Azalea Blossom, but when I swatched it, I was a bit disappointed because it was too light on my skin. I had to literally scrub it in to achieve decent color pay-off. I was more attracted to Vintage Grape Blush Ombre (swatch coming up). it is a pretty light blue-based pink, though, like cotton candy. The shimmers in these new blush ombre are just perfect: not too in-your-face, but these are not flat either. I am liking these blushes, just not Azalea Blossom.

All in all, I highky recommend the Crush Metal Pigment Stacked! 1, lipsticks in Pink Burst, Laugh a Lot and Bubblegum, Cultureclash lipglass, Da Bling and Very Violet eyeshadows. The blush ombre is pretty too if Azalea Blossom would work on your skintone.
