I was quite excited these new NARS Eye Paints.  I'd been waiting for NARS to come up with their own version of cream shadows, or gel liners, because a lot of other brands have come up with theirs.  I think this product has been long overdue.

I was also thrilled to know that the NARS Eye Paints are multi-purpose, meaning they can be cream shadows, but they can also be eye shadow bases and gel liners.  Sometimes, cream shadows can't be gel liners because they're not too pigmented.  Likewise, gel liners can sometimes be too thick and rich, and color-saturated to be cream eyeshadows.  I love that NARS came up with a product on the eyes that can be as versatile as these new Eye Paints.

Swatches:

NARS Eye Paint in Mozambique, Iskandar, Snake Eyes

As you can see in the swatches, the new NARS Eye Paints are really very pigmented and rich.  I was able to try my favorites from the collection.  Mozambique is a beautiful cream moss green with a satin finish.  Iskandar is a shimmery buttery gold.  Snake Eyes is a deep forest green with beautiful emerald green pearl.  All of them are very pigmented and would make great shadows or liners.

I personally used Snake Eyes as a gel liner because it's quite pigmented and does not really look green until the light hits it.  It's a very good alternative to your usual black gel liner.  In the look below, I used Snake Eyes over my black gel liner, and Iskandar on the lid as an eyeshadow base, and by itself on the lower lashline.

Wearing NARS Eye Paint in Iskandar on lid as base, and on lower lashline, and a little of Snake Eyes on upper lashline over my black gel liner.

In the look above, Iskandar really brought forth the gorgeous hue of my gold shadow, and it gave a nice gold line to my lower lashline.  Snake Eyes was great as a topper to my black gel liner.

I also have to say that these Eye Paints truly last forever.  I wore them for 12 hours, and they never flaked or smeared.  NARS claims that these last for 18 hours, and although I have not worn this product that long, I am impressed with the 12-hour performance.  Also, after swatched them on the back of my hand, it took a dozen scrubs of my makeup remover wipe before they were completely erased from my skin.  They were that stubborn.  They do.not.budge.

The NARS Eye Paints are now available at www.narscosmetics.com for $25 each.
