(Milan, Italy – September 2012) – At the Spring/Summer 2013 Ready to Wear show in Milan, Dolce&Gabbana presents a collection that evokes the most profound Sicilian tradition and exquisite handcraftsmanship; seen on the prints depicting famous puppets of Sicilian street theatres, on the typical local barrows and peculiar wheels, on the Caltagirone head-shaped ceramic vases and dishes.
Backstage, the Designers’ inspiration, with a rich color palette and mix of elements recalling hot Sicilian summer as its focal point, was brought to life by Pat McGrath using Dolce&Gabbana Make Up. The Brand Creative Advisor translated the Designers’ fashion creativity and vision into a makeup look presenting a combination of bright corals alongside subtle warm hues.
To achieve a flawless look, Pat applied new Luminous Liquid Foundation using the Foundation Brush. She carefully blended the foundation adding extra coverage on the nose and forehead. The Concealer was then used to achieve a faultless complexion illuminated with light. Finally Pat used the Blush in Sole, Mocha and Apricot, mixing a combination of warm shades sweeping lightly across models’ cheekbones creating a glowing and radiant finish.
On the eyes, the Eyeshadow Quad in Desert was applied, layering pale gold shadow to create a luxuriously subtle, iridescent base. The Glam Liner in Black Intense added an element of drama, applied along the lash line it created a strikingly feline cats-eye. The Eyeliner in Chocolate and the Khol Pencil in True Black were then worked along the lash line below the eyes for further definition. Finally, several layers of Intenseyes Mascara were applied, achieving volumized, perfectly coated lashes for a flirtatious look.
Turning her attention to the lips, Pat applied the Classic Cream Lipstick in Chocolate and Iconic, blending the color to create a lip stain for a provocative look. The color was applied with greater intensity at the cupid’s bow, to enhance the lips for a smooth and full finish.
Pat chose the Nail Lacquer in Pink for a final subtle accent. The pastel shade and luxurious finish perfectly completed the sensual makeup look.
Pat McGrath explained: “It has been fantastic creating a make-up look for this wonderful collection; it pays tribute to The Designers love for Sicily so perfectly through the use of stunning prints and intricately hand-crafted pieces. The clothes evoke a real sense of the traditional Mediterranean summer so I wanted to bring that to life with the make-up look. The models look radiant – the warm coral shades are complemented by the sensual red brown lip which really adds to the Designers’ inspiration.”

Skin:
Julie prepped her complexion with tarte’s pure maracuja oil to hydrate and protect Allison’s skin. Then she applied clean slate poreless 12-hr perfecting primer to ensure her foundation lasted for the red carpet. Next, she blended tarte’s maracuja miracle 12-hr foundation in light to medium to add a subtle glow and warmth to her complexion. To conceal any uneven skin and to highlight around her eyes, she used tarte’s maracuja waterproof creaseless concealer in light.
Cheeks:
To add extra radiance, Julie highlighted her brow and cheekbones with maracuja blush & glow brightening luminizer and cheek tint in candlelight. Then she applied tarte’s cheek stain in blissful to the apples of her cheeks. She finished with a hint of tarte’s Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in amused and lightly dusted Amazonian clay finishing powder on her t-zone to minimize shine for the red carpet.
Eyes:
To open her eyes, Julie curled her long lashes with tarte’s picture perfect eyelash curler. Then she smoothed clean slate 360 creaseless 12-hr smoothing eye primer so her shadow would stay put all night. In order to bring out her blue eyes, she applied Amazonian clay waterproof cream eyeshadow in seashell pink on the lids. To add a bit of drama, she created a thin line with mutiplEYE lash enhancing liquid liner at the lashline and slightly up at the outer corners. Then she blended canopy eyeshadow from tarte's amazon escape Amazonian clay eye and cheek palette in the creases and in the bottom lashlines to give a soft, smoky look. To bring a subtle brightness, she highlighted the inner corners of her eyes with the bright side double-ended eye brightener. To finish, she applied two coats of tarte’s lights, camera, lashes! 4-in-1 mascara on the top and bottom lashes.
Lips:
Julie outlined Allison’s lips with tarte's LipSurgence matte lip tint in exposed, then filled in the center of her lips using glamazon pure performance 12-hr lipstick in inspired. She finished by adding a touch of shine with maracuja divine shine lip gloss in adored.
