NYX The Curve Liquid Liner

If you've been a long-time reader of this blog, you'd know that I love liquid liners.  They produce the sleekest, most precise and crisp lines that I prefer with my eye looks.  They also make creating the winged eye effect quite easy.  When I first saw the NYX The Curve Liquid Liner, I was more than a little intimidated.  I know that this is supposed to be the ergonomic way to use and apply liquid liner, but hey, I've been using pen-style liquid liners for so long, I didn't even know there's actually another WAY to apply liner?

My husband's company is a stickler for ergonomic ways of doing things, so I am so used to the hub's speeches about ergonomic this and that.  I thought the ergonomic keyboard is the only other ergonomic tool I'd use on an everyday basis.  Well, this concept evidently invaded the beauty world.

NYX's The Curve has a gun-shaped applicator that fits in the groove between your forefinger and thumb, giving the user a comfortable grip of the product.  I have to admit it took me a while to get used to it, as I was really used to the pen style liners.   After a few attempts, I finally got the hang of it.  It was then easier to use, and it gives great control in the application of lines.  It didn't produce any crooked lines; in fact, it easily created the winged liner and efficiently filled in the very thin, crisp line that I created.

As for the felt tip, all I can say is that it is really stiff.  If you like more flexible tips, this product is not for  you.  It did not give me problems, though, as I was able to create my lines without trouble.  However, if you are used to flexible felt or brush tips, you might want to consider the fact that The Curve's tip is stiff and not flexible.

As for the pigment, it is very black, very opaque and saturated.  Most of all, I like that it is not shiny!  I don't like shiny liners.  I prefer matte blacks and I'm glad NYX chose to go matte.

All in all, I think this is an innovative way to apply liner, and kudos to NYX for that.  Since this is a concept that is not very common, there will be some learning curve.  And as I said, the tip is stiff so you might want to take that into consideration when buying this product, but that did not give me a hard time in applying the liner.  I love the easy, crisp, precise lines, the matte opaque black, and of course, the ergonomic design.

This retails for $15 and is available at ULTA and NYXcosmetics.com.

I must say I am quite impress with your review. I was a bit iffy on whether or not the product would meet up to my expectations. I love how pigmented it is. The eye demonstration was a definite seller for me. Thanks for the review and swatches.
