As I stated in my Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism: Skin Base Foundation in Shade Au Review, the products in this collection are fierce, richly pigmented, unapologetic. Illamasqua prides itself as a brand that aims to be an explosion of your alter ego. This collection is definitely not about conformity and blending in. It features rich, saturated colors for eyes, lips and nails.

For this entry, the focus is on the powder shadows from this collection. I was able to try out three, and yes, they are typical Illamasqua- bold, daring, rich. These are matte shadows that are pigmented and saturated, but surprisingly easy to blend.

Swatches:

Burst, Cancan, Sex

Burst is my favorite, a beautiful matte blue green that would make a great crease or liner color. Cancan is a light lilac purple matte, and Sex, a matte pure white. I am so glad I have the Sex shade as this is probably my first matte white, and deeply pigmented at that! I can't wait to use this in my eye looks, this would make a great highlighter for the browbone or inner corner, especially if I use shimmer shadows. The matte texture really gives a beautiful effect and balances the shimmery shades in your look.

All in all, I am liking these products. The only downside is that you might not like these if you are not into matte shadows. However, I find that a lot of makeup enthusiasts are looking for really good quality matte shadows to add to their collection, as you seldom see pigmented matte shadows that actually blend well. I have tried these out and even though they are matte and pigmented, they are not a pain to blend. You have to pay extra attention to your blending, but overall it was not difficult.

I will be putting up a look using these shadows, so stay tuned.

Human Fundamentalism is available in the US from March 20, 2012 on Sephora.com, and at select Sephora Stores on March 22nd.
