Zoya Fleck Effect Topcoats Swatches and Review

I'm sure the nail blogging world has pretty much announced yesterday the coming of the Zoya Fleck Effect mylar fleck glazes that can be worn alone (but then again, they look so much better as topcoats) or over nail polish. I prefer darker bases for these very pretty flakie topcoats. Nail polish enthusiasts all over are as excited as me over these new offerings from Zoya. Here are some swatches:

First 3- over Wet n Wild Black Creme, Next 3- over Essie Bobbing for Baubbles, Last 3- over Barielle Seductive

Base: Wet n Wild Black Creme
Chloe, Maisie, Opal

Base: Essie Bobbing for Baubles
Chloe, Maisie, Opal

Base: Barielle Seduction
Chloe, Maisie, Opal

Maisie is described as having a blue tint with mylar green fleck effect. Opal is a green base with mylar green fleck effect, and Chloe has pink tint with mylar green and gold fleck effect. In all of my nail wheel swatches, it seems that Maisie and Opal are extremely similar, although Maisie just has a little bit of blue tones going on. If I were to buy these, I would get Chloe and just either Maisie or Opal because they pretty much have the same effect.

Here are some hand swatches:

Chloe over Zoya Tru from the True collection (swatches and review of True are coming soon!)

Chloe is gorgeous. It is a very pretty pink base with gold and green flecks, but the predominant color is gold. I can see using Chloe over every cream polish I own! I need a back up of this.

Maisie over Zoya Skylar from the True collection (swatches and review of True are coming up!)

Maisie is a pretty blue base with green mylar flakies. It looks great over any dark base.

Opal over Wet n Wild Black Creme

Opal is green base with green mylar flakies. This looks amazing over black as the flecks look like glowing crystals. Very eye-catching and edgy.

All in all, I am liking how dense the flakies are in the bottle and when applied. I've used some other flakie top coats that are not too dense, so I needed to use at least two coats to achieve the effect that I wanted. With Zoya Fleck Effect, I only needed to use one coat for a very nice, generous amount of flakies, although I used two coats in the swatches to better see the effect in the photos. Zoya Fleck Effect is definitely more dense (more flakies) than Fingerpaints' Special Effects, and I liked how I don't need to pile on the coats.

My favorite would have to be Chloe. As I said, since the only difference between Maisie and Opal is the base color since they both have green mylar flakies, they look almost the same when applied on the nail.  Therefore, if budget is tight, I would only pick one of these as they have a similar effect anyway.  I wonder why Zoya used green mylars in two flakie polishes?  It's a bit disappointing that they looked almost identical when applied.

Flakies are all the rage nowadays, and I like this trend better than crackle polish. I am liking how these look like over a darker base, which can range from something similar to beautiful autumn leaves, to hot lava or dying embers, to glowing crystals. You can add a matte topcoat over these for a truly eye-popping effect.

Which ones are your faves?

These are quite pretty, but I think Zoya kind of jumped the shark on the whole flakie craze.

It's the crackle craze all over again, but good thing I like flakies a lot better than crackles.

I like flakie polish too,but I believe FingerPaints did a better job with their's than Zoya.
