Maybelline Lasting Drama by EyeStudio Gel Liner Review

I admit I used to be a gel liner snob. I thought only department store brands offer really good quality gel liners to consumers. In the past few years, though, drugstore brands have really come up with really amazing products that are on a par with department store brands, and sometimes better for a fraction of the price.

I tried Maybelline's Lasting Drama gel liner and I was impressed by how dark it looks on the skin. It rivals really popular gel liners in quality and ease in application. I also like that they package includes a small brush that you can use with the gel liner. However, I still prefer to use either my Sonia Kashuk bent liner brush or a thin, stiff angled brush to apply on the lashline.

As you can see, the product is very saturated, pigmented, applies creamily. However, I noticed that recently, this gel liner is not as creamy as I thought it was. I can only think that it has dried up somewhat, which is nearly impossible since I always keep the lid tightly closed, and I've only had this product for a few weeks. I would probably add a spritz of MAC Fix+ spray to make it creamier.

So all in all, I like this product as it is very affordable (at 9 or 10 bucks a pop), very black and pigmented, and it stays put on the lid the entire day. My only gripe is that it is not as creamy as I would like, but it still applies well on the skin.
