Venomous Villains collection features dark, coppery and vampy eyeshadows to herald the coming of fall.

Her Alter Image is a light violet in the Veluxe Pearl formula. This would be a nice lid color that can be paired with Vile Violet in the crease, a matte deep dirty blue purple. This combination is one of my favorites - a nice lilac on the lid with a matte eggplant purple in the crease.

Vainglorious is a bronze burgundy frost that I would love to pair with golds, dark browns, unassuming neutrals. This would give a nice pop of color on the lids without being too in-your-face.

Sweet Joy is a frosted creamy pale gold that would make for a nice highlighter or a wash of color on the lids. I am on the fence about this, however, because I have way too many highlighters.

De-Vil is a rich copper in the Veluxe Pearl formula. This is such a pretty one that I think I would have to get this. Reminds me a lot of Coppering but since I love these kinds of shades, I wouldn't mind getting De-Vil. This would work great with golds, coppers, bronzes, dark browns. Very fall-ish and quite pigmented as well.

Carbon is a matte black (part of the permanent collection) that I am not too fond of. I don't like the texture and it seems a little hard to blend. If you are looking for a black from MAC, I'd suggest Black Tied, but this has subtle silver specks. I am also partial to my limited edition Mont Black which is a black that has tiny gold specks.

MINERALIZE EYESHADOWS:

MINERALIZE EYESHADOWS:

She Who Dares, My Dark Magic

My Dark Magic

She Who Dares

These mineralize shadows look very similar to the ones from the MAC Style Black collection. My Dark Magic is a compact of swirled colors comprising of a deep pink with pink pearl, and deep plum with purple pearl.  This reminds me of Young Punk from Style Black.

She Who Dares is a combination of deep navy with blue pearl, and deep forest green with lime green pearl. This reminds me of Blue Flame, but of course with green infused with the blue instead of just blue. However, these are all black-based so you can see how dark these shadows are. They would be perfect for smokey/dramatic eyes with a twist because the variant colors can be noticed.

BEAUTY POWDERS:

Her Own Devices

Oh So Fair

Briar Rose

Briar Rose

The beauty powders are my favorite products from this collection. I am such a sucker for beauty powders and mineralize skinfinishes, I have no idea why. Maybe because they light up the complexion and give this ethereal, radiant look. I love how these make the complexion look glowy without looking greasy.

My favorite of the bunch is Briar Rose, and I am definitely going to snag this. It is a soft violet pink with pearl. I am such a sucker for lilac or purple-based anything - be it lipstick, eyeshadow, or beauty powder. Briar Rose is the slightly darker sister of Summer Rose beauty powder, and I cannot wait to use it.

Oh So Fair is a clean pink with gold pearl. I believe this will also be a favorite as it can suit a wide variety of skintones. I like this as this also illuminates the complexion without adding too much color.

Her Own Devices is a nude beauty powder with low-sheen shimmer, and would suit medium to darker skintones. This also looks very pretty.

The shades of this collection's beauty powders are quite gorg, I just can't settle for one!

MAC MAGICALLY COOL LIQUID POWDER:

Truth and Light, Cajun

Cajun, Truth and Light

Truth and Light

Honestly, this product looks so much better applied on the face with a brush than on swatches, because they looked caked-on in my photos. However, you only need a tiny amount on the face to make it work. These are actually powders that apply like liquid on the skin because they feel "magically cool" to the touch, but dries into a nice powder finish that illuminates and enhances the complexion.

Truth & Light is a sheer shimmer that reflects silver and pink and would probably suit light to medium skintones. The MAC SA told me that this could be used all over the face, but I plan to just apply this on the cheekbones and temples instead.

Cajun is a sheer bronze shimmer that reflects gold, that would probably suit warmer complexions. This does not look as dark as it is in the swatches, because it will be sheerly applied on the face using a powder brush.

All in all, Venomous Villains has some remarkable products in the collection. My favorites would have to be ALL of the beauty powders, French Quarter greasepaint, Bite of An Apple blush, and one or two of  the lipsticks (Heartless and Toxic Tale), lipglasses (Hot House), and eyeshadows (De-Vil, Vainglorious). I love that most of the lipsticks are Amplifieds and not lustres, because creamy, opaque and pigmented lips are my fave.  I love how the beauty powders have such low but beautiful sheens. The nail lacquers are also something to look at, which I shall be featuring in a future entry.

I also liked how they introduced a new product, the Magically Cool Liquid Powder, which looked absolutely fun with Dr. Facilier on the lid.

The packaging leaves something to be desired in my opinion - it looked  little a too juvenile for me - but of course it should be, right, since these classics were originally targeted for children?!  I agree, and that's why I think they'd look better in glass display boxes because of the iconic images.  However, I also agree that this would also look fun on top of dressers, and even inside makeup kits, because these would make great topics of conversation.  As with many other MAC and Disney fans, I felt that the sketched images from the Venomous Villains promo would have made better images on the packaging than the classic ones.  The funky sketches on black background would have looked super cool on compacts and are more "MAC" than the classic iconic Disney images.   However, the packaging does not detract from the great choice of colors and wonderful pigmentation of the products.

The Shades Of U Rating for the Venomous Villains collection: 4.25 out of 5 stars
