Orly Sweet Collection for Spring 2010 Swatches and Review

I finally got a hold of the pretty Orly nail lacquers that are a part of the Orly Sweet Collection for Spring 2010. I again went to my neighborhood nail supply store that sells salon brand nail polish in wholesale prices, and I got these babies for only $3 each. Amazing. Anyways, I am really loving these easter egg colors, and it's funny because when nail polish companies think of Spring (like Orly, China Glaze and Essie), they just HAD to churn out easter egg shades, eh? =)

The "awww factor" to these new Orly Sweet polishes is that they come with uber-cute lipglosses attached to the bottles, and they actually taste and apply great! I tried to include some of the glosses in the swatches shown below, and although you can probably not get more than 5 applications in these mini-tubes, they are real eye candy and are so cute to look at! Here are some swatches of these:

Lemonade is a pretty light pastel yellow creme. It is very similar to China Glaze in Lemon Fizz, except that their formulas are a tad different. Orly Lemonade is a bit easier to apply because it's a tad goopier or thicker. In my experience, it is difficult to apply really pale cremes unless the product is a bit thick in consistency. China Glaze Lemon Fizz is as beautiful as Orly Lemonade, but the latter is a bit easier to apply because of the thicker formulation. Nonetheless, their finishes are equally gorgeous.

Compared to China Glaze in Lemon Fizz

If you look at the two pictures, Lemon Fizz is a tiny bit warmer, but in the end, both are nearly identical.

Lollipop is a beautiful creme lilac, and of course, since I am a sucker for lavenders, lilacs and purples, I just have to have this. It has definite blue undertones, and is bordering a little on the blue-pink side.

compared to China Glaze Light as Air

In contrast, China Glaze Light as Air has definite grey undertones (if in doubt, compare the bottles shown in the photos). Lollipop is brighter, while Light as Air is more subdued. Unlike Lemonade and Lemon Fizz which you can either get one or the other because they are nearly identical, you can go ahead and own both Light as Air and Lollipop as they are different enough to justify getting both.

Orly Cotton Candy looks more like a peach than a pink to my eyes. However, there are some pink tones to the hue as well. This is a very cute color, and one of my favorites.

Compared to China Glaze Peachy Keen, the latter is a lot brighter and more orange than Orly Cotton Candy.

Compared to China Glaze Something Sweet, Orly Cotton Candy is peachier.

Orly Pixy Stix looks peachier to me than pink, but it is a mid-tone pink that is bordering on being watermelon in color, but not quite. It might be compared to China Glaze in Sugar High, but Pixy Stix is peachier.

Compared to Sugar High (which is pinkier).

Orly Snowcone is a nice cornflower blue creme. It is not similar to any polish from China Glaze Up and Away collection as this is a soft pastel blue, and the blues from the China Glaze collection are bright.

Gumdrop is one of my favorites. It's a beautiful light pastel green creme that applies like a dream on the nails. I don't have China Glaze in Refresh Mint so I can't compare, but I am guessing Gumdrop is a tad darker and has more blue undertones than Refresh Mint.

There you have it, my pretty new Orly nail lacquers. I can't wait to use these either worn alone or Konadified.

I bought the whole CG Up and Away collection, and I just put on Lemon Fizz this evening. Yet, I think I will have to stop by Sally's tomorrow and see if I can track these down :) They are lovely! With the months of clouds and rain we've had (I think there have been 4 days of sun since Christmas here . . .) I need all of the sunny, bright, colors-that-make-me-smile that I can get!

Thank you for comparing them, I ordered some Up&Away (still on the way) and was not sure about ordering also a couple Orly (I love lilacs and lavender too ;-))
