Summer is upon us, and we all know that sunbathing or tanning is bad for the skin. How do we get that gorgeous, bronze goddess look without the harmful sun rays? Self-tanners are the thing right now, as people want gorgeous, bronzed skin without the accompanying health risks.
I was able to try a new self-tanner from tarte called the tarte Maracuja Rainforest Glow Instant Matte Waterproof Body Perfector. What I like about this product is that aside from being a sunless tanner that imparts an on-demand, immediate faux tan glow, it is infused with maracuja oil that moisturizes the skin. It also has Vitamin C and fatty acids that restore the skin's natural glow.
Below are the swatches and my thoughts on this product.
Bottom half: with tarte Maracuja Rainforest Glow Instant Matte Waterproof Body Perfector
At first, I was concerned because the bronze color of the product separated from the maracuja oil as you push it out of the squeeze tube. However, when you blend it with your fingers, the product easily blends seamlessly and settles into the skin.
The bronzed effect is immediate. As you can see in the second to the last photo, the bronzed look is easily seen compared to the top half of my hand where I did not apply the product. tarte says that this gives a matte finish, but the maracuja oil gives it a healthy, radiant finish (as opposed to a dry one).
This product comes in a big tube (147ml / 5 fl. oz.) for you to generously apply on your entire body. Here are some tips in application per tarte:
Dispense a generous amount of rainforest glow and apply to one body part at a time (applying more as needed). Blend with fingers until the sheer bronze color is even. Allow body perfector to absorb for at least 30 seconds before dressing. Simply wash off your temporary tan with soap and water to remove.
Definitely quite simple and easy. I love all things maracuja from tarte, so this is a no-brainer for me. What separates this product from other brands' is that it also moisturizes naturally (thanks to the maracuja oil) apart from giving your skin a nice bronzed look.
