As you probably know by now, emerald green is the Color of the Year, and Sephora collaborated with Pantone to come up with a Sephora + Pantone Universe™ collection in the Pantone shade 17-5641 Emerald. It is a collection of different products that showcase this amazing shade. If you ask me what my favorite color is, even as a kid, I'd say green. I love any and all shades of green, and emerald green is one of the most breathtaking shades of green. I am so glad that this was hailed as the 2013 Color of the Year.

I was able to try one of the items from this collection; specifically the Color Cube Lid Stain - of course - in the Color of the Year shade, emerald green. The packaging is pretty nifty as it comes in a really sturdy cardboard cube with the emerald green shade splashed on it.

The product itself is a bright emerald green that has some kind of shimmer to it.  It glides smoothly on the kin and can be used either as a liner or a shadow. I used it as a base in the eye look above, and it made the shades look more vibrant and helped the powder shadows adhere on the lid.

I'd say that compared to other cream shadows or cream bases that I've tried, this shade is very opaque. It is also very pigmented and does not apply patchy. I guess it has to be of this consistency and opacity in order for it to double as a gel liner.

As a liner, it also worked great, especially with a bent liner brush like that of Sonia Kashuk. It applied the liner on the upper lashline without feathering or becoming patchy in areas.

You can purchase the Sephora + Pantone Universe™ Collection at Sephora.com and Sephora stores this month for $68 (a $113 value).
