NARS Stylo Eye Liner Swatches and Review

NARS Atlantic

NARS Carpate

(top) NARS Nuku Hiva

I was able to try NARS' new offering, the Stylo Eye Liner. It is a Sharpie-style liquid liner that has a flexible but easy to control tip to create the most precise lines. I like these kind of pen-style liners because they're easier to control than liquid liners with a brush, and you can create more crisp, precise lines with these applicators.

The NARS Stylo Eye Liner has four shades: Carpate- black, Nuku Hiva- brown, Atlantic- navy blue, and Koala- grey. I have three of the shades and you can check out the swatches below.

Wearing NARS Stylo Eye Liner in Carpate

As you can see, the shades are richly pigmented, saturated, and they create crisp lines. They seem to bleed/feather on my hand, but on my eyes, they don't bleed at all and they stay saturated with ink even when applied over metallic or pigmented eye shadows. What I like about these Stylo liners is that it stays quite a while on the lids, but they can be wiped off easily with any makeup remover wipe. I never had to scrub my lids raw just as I would with waterproof liners. This one does not smudge, but it is easily removed at the end of the day.

In the look above, I was wearing NARS Stylo Eye Liner in Carpate and it's a beautiful, deep, rich black, and it stayed put on my lids until I was ready to take it off. I'd say it stayed a good 7-8 hours with a primer underneath. Atlantic is a gorgeous deep navy blue, and it can be worn like a black liner because it almost looks black unless you peer closely. Nuku Hiva is a mid-tone brown. I hoped it was a bit of a darker brown but it's okay. This is great for those neutral looks when you think that black liner is too harsh.

All in all, I am impressed with the new NARS Stylo Eye Liner. It gives precise, clean, crisp lines, and the pen is easy to control. I do hope that the tube has enough ink to last a fair amount of time as I think I will use them all the time.
