MAC Vera: Pearlglide Liners, Plushglass, Pearlmatte Face Powder Swatches and Review

Pearlglide Intense Eye Liners Top to Bottom: Industrial, Lord It Up, Undercurrent, Petrol Blue

Lord It Up, Designer Purple, Black Line, Petrol Blue
Industrial, Undercurrent

I was able to try some of the products from the MAC Vera collection. I posted swatches and review of the Crushed Metallic Pigments, so the rest of the products from this collection will be reviewed in this entry. Some of my favorite products from this collection are the Pearlglides. Most of these are repromotes and have come up in several previous collections, but I don't think they will lose their appeal. They glide like butter on the lids, they have fun, pretty colors so this is really right up my alley. All of them have good pigmentation with the exception of Industrial which is described as a periwinkle grey. Lord It Up is one of my favorites, a bronze with pearl. Petrol Blue and Undercurrent are also my fave, the former a nice deep navy with pearl, and the latter a very pretty teal with pearl. These two would be great on either the lower or upper lashline for a pop of color. I am loving Black Line too, a black with gold pearl. Black Swan is a black with pearl, and Designer Purple is an iridescent violet.

I am glad the plushglass I believe has become a little more mild in its last two releases. I remember around five years ago when the plushglass was first released, I had to return my purchased lipglass because it really stung my lips so bad. I am glad the tingle is now more tolerable, and I love the nice shades that came in this collection. I like to apply this over a lipstick so that there is a barrier between the lips and the plushglass so the tingle is not that intense. My favorites are Butterfly Dream, a mid-tone violet with blue pearl and On A Holiday, a bright pink with blue pearl. Confetti is a soft pink with white pearl, Fashion Fanatic is a creamy pale pink, and Confetti is a bright orange coral with soft pearl which is quite pretty as well.

All in all, if your lips are very sensitive to lip plumpers and the accompanying tingle, then you won't like the plushglass. It does seem to slightly plump the lips, though, so that is a nice effect.

Pearlmatte Face Powder:

Floral Fantasy

Floral Fantasy (swirled), Sunday Afternoon (swirled)

The Pearlmatte face powders have custom-etched design on the compact, and this time, it has the butterfly design that Vera Neumann is known for. I like that there are different shades in the compact that you can either use alone or swirled together. Floral Fantasy has a more salmon-pink palette. The big area is described as a soft pale salmon, the middle area is a blue pale pink, and the right area is a pale coral with slight gold pearl.  The last area has the shimmer, while the other two are matte.  Sunday Afternoon is a more cool pink in palette, it has a clean bright pink as the largest area, a bright clean fuchsia in the middle area, and soft pink with white pearl in the right-most area.  I prefer Floral Fantasy as I think it would suite more olive/yellow-based skintones like mine.

I like the innovative design of this compact, as well as the choice of shades which are indeed complementary with each other.  I think the compacts are cute but classy and filled with a lot of nice shades.  Definitely two of the prettiest face/beauty powders from MAC that I've seen in a while.

Nail Lacquer:

Midsummer's Dream

I intend to get the coral shade, Play Day, but Midsummer's Dream is also pretty, a nice pale pink lilac creme. It is one of my "palate cleansers". When I wear a lot of brights, vampy shades, or glittery polishes, I reach for shades like this to cleanse my palate. Very feminine and looks clean on the nails. It is a bit streaky on the first coat, but second (and even a third) coat evened things out.

All in all, I think there are some products from this collection that many will like. I am particulary fond of the Pearlglides, the Pearlmatte Face Powder, and some of the Crushed Metallic Pigments. This is a small but obviously thought out collection.
