Here are some of my thoughts and swatches of the Wet n Wild Color Icon Ice Baby nail polish collection.  This is similar to Sally Hansen's recent collection called Gem Crush, and China Glaze's Eye Candy collection which I will be reviewing as well.  They are glitter-bombs, but since the holidays are fast approaching, these are great for festive nail looks.

First of all, let me just say that swatching these polishes was pretty messy. I got glitter all over my jeans, hair, fingers, desk. Please pardon the stray glitters in the photos. These swatches are mostly three coats.

Diamond in the Rough

Diamond in the Rough is a dark base with holographic glitters that reflect orange, green, blue, red, silver, and it also has dark grey glitters. Very pretty. I prefer this to be layered over a darker grey or a silver base, though.

Rockin' Rubies

Rockin' Rubies is a clear base with varying sizes of holographic and red glitter particles. Because it has a clear base, I think this is also best used a layering polish over solid creams like black, red, white, or any shade for that matter.

Give Me A Price Quote

Give Me a Price Quote is a clear base with yellow gold bar and very small round glitter. I am not a fan of bar glitter as it makes my nails look furry, but this one is slightly mesmerizing to me.

It's All in The Cut

It's All In The Cut has a clear base with minute lavender and bigger pink and holographic hex glitters. One of my favorites from this collection, mostly because I'm a sucker for purples and lilacs.

Cost Is No Issue

Cost Is No Issue is another clear base with very small aqua glitter and bigger blue hexagon glitters. It is pretty, but reminds me so much of a couple of polishes from Revlon, Sally Hansen Gem Crush and China Glaze Eye Candy, so it's not very unique.

Believe Me, It's Real

Believe Me, It's Real is a gorgeous clear base with cobalt micro-glitter and purple hex glitter. One of my favorites, and amazing over a darker base.

24 Carats

24 Carats is brassier than Give Me a Price Quote, but has the same bar glitter that looks very furry. Not a fan.

All in all, these are great for layering over creams for that festive touch on your nails for the holidays. I am not a fan of these applied alone, as they feel more like layering polishes to me. I am also not a fan of bar glitter, so I would skip those two that have them. I am in love with those that have the hex glitters, though, especially Rockin' Rubies, It's All in the Cut, Diamond in the Rough, and Believe Me, It's Real.

As for the formula, let me say that these polishes are VERY thirsty. The glitters will suck the top coat off the top of your nails, so you would have to apply at least two or three coats of top coat to avoid the gritty texture. The downside to applying more layers of top coats is that the polish will peel off your nailbeds rather easily, so decide which is more important for you: the longevity of the manicure or a smooth, glassy finish and texture.

These retail for $2.99 at Walgreens.

I have these but haven't tried them, except to swatch on nail wheels. If top coat is what it takes,I won't mind the easy removal of peeling. However,I really don't mind bumpy glitters.
