OPI Miss Universe Swatches and Review

Ahh, pardon the delay! I've had these polishes for a couple of months now, and we just had a new Ms. Universe crowned (congratulations Ms. Angola!), but it's only now that I've had the opportunity to post these swatches. I am actually liking this small collection from OPI. There are a couple not-to-miss shades.

It's My Year

In the tradition of Orly nail polishes in Oui and Ingenue, as well as Zoya in Faye and OPI Rally Pretty Pink, this is one of the most popular kinds of shades in 2011. It's a purplish plummy, mauve-ish base with a fantastic amount of gold glass-like flecks. The gold flash is out of this world. One of my favorite polishes as I am such a sucker for purples. I can't say no to gold flecks as well.

Swimsuit...Nailed It!

Swimsuit...Nailed It! is as blingy as it is breathtaking. Gorgeous cobalt blue foil. One of the most beautiful blues I've ever seen OPI come up with. It is a rich and vibrant hue, and is opaque in one coat. A definite must-have if you love blues.

Congeniality is My Middle Name

A magenta shimmer with more of a purple base. Very similar to OPI The One Who Got Away from the Katy Perry collection. Very vibrant and if you like hot fuchsia/magenta pinks with shimmer, this is for you.

I don't have nail swatches of Crown Me Already, but I have one nail wheel swatch pictured here on the left side (the one with silver hexagon glitter):

This will work best as a glitter top coat. I don't find too many OPI polishes with hexagon glitter, so this one is pretty special.

All in all, this is a pretty solid little collection. In fact, this is one of my favorite OPI collections for 2011, and I like it a lot better than Touring America. For one, I like the magnificent textures of the polishes, the different finishes, the amazing, saturated colors. I like the opacity of most of the polishes as well. I hope OPI comes up with more collections with as much shimmer, glitter, glass flecks, foils, and bright, vivid colors like the Miss Universe collection.

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.8 out of 5 stars.
