Avon Reversalist Illuminating Eye System Review

I've been using one of Avon's new offerings, ANEW Reversalist Illuminating Eye System for a few weeks now, and I can say that the concept is pretty innovative.

L-R: Eye cream, Veil

Their system is, literally and figuratively, two-tiered. A fliptop cap reveals the Veil, an eye-brightener that claims to visibly illuminate the under-eye area. If you unscrew the Veil from the main jar, the eye cream is revealed underneath. The Veil is to be applied over the traditional eye cream that claims to repair dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles over time. Here is how the two-part system is described by Avon on its website:

Brightens even your darkest undereye area. Two-part eye system with Activinol Eye Technology. Helps reactivate skin’s repair processes and dramatically reverse visible wrinkles. Instantly: eye area appears more luminous. In 4 weeks: dramatically reduces the look of fine wrinkles.

Sheer veil with potent skin brighteners. Illuminates undereye area instantly. Use after eye cream and reapply as needed. .09 oz. net wt.

Eye cream: visibly repairs dark, circles, fine lines and wrinkles over time. Use twice a day all over eye area. .5 fl. oz.
Works together with ANEW REVERSALIST Day Renewal Cream SPF 25

The Veil

Eye cream

MY TAKE: I am loving the Veil over the eye cream. I am a realist and I do not expect miracles from any cosmetic product in a jar, particularly eye creams. However, the Veil is something else. After applying the cream, I apply the Veil over it and BAM! It works immediately: it diffuses light and brightens the undereye area and makes my eyes look less tired, refreshed, awake. I am impressed. I can really see the difference before the Veil and after it is applied. It made my eye area much more vibrant and fresh. If only for the Veil, this product should earn 5 stars.

However, there is another aspect of the two-part system, and that is the eye cream. I have only used this product for 2-3 weeks, so I cannot predict how my eyes would look like long-term, but I don't see any improvement on my fine lines or even dark circles. The eye cream however makes my eye area moisturized and keeps it soft and supple, which I think every eye cream should do. However, I do not expect it to be a miracle product and it is indeed not one. It is pretty effective in moisturizing, but combined with the Veil, this system is fantastic for brightening the eye area.

Bottomline: Don't expect miracles with the eye cream, but it does moisturize the undereye area making it soft and supple. In my experience, the combination of the eye cream and the Veil makes the undereye area look vibrant, awake, refreshed. This is one of the better eye brighteners I've tried.

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.25 out of 5 stars

I have this too...been using it for months. Love the eye cream, not impressed with the veil. I like Benefit's Erase Paste much better for my dark circles.
