MAC Creme Team: Swatches and Review

Creme Team is an all-lip product collection that features lipsticks in the Cremesheen formula that was launched last year. The lipsticks are going to be part of the permanent line (yay!), and I am super stoked because I really love the finish and texture of this lipstick formula. It goes on uber smooth, pigmented, but creamy and buttery on the lips with a beautiful sheen finish (hence the name Cremesheen). I believe this formula is a cross between Amplified Cream and Frost. My all-time favorite is Lavender Whip, and I guess a lot of ladies are enamored with it too, because it is the most popular shade when I read the makeup forums. I love it because lavender/purple lipsticks flatter my skintone. My two favorite MAC lipsticks are purple-based: Noveau Frou and Orchidazzle. I even bought a back up of Orchidazzle - it's a bright purple in the tube but fades into a beautiful midtone-violet/lavender that is just so gorgeous:

Now Lavender Whip is not as bright as that, but it is truly my color so I quickly snagged it.

I am also enamored with Creme In Your Coffee. It's a beautiful brownish mauve that would make a great everyday color. When I tried it on, though, I'd thought I already have a lot of similar colors so I skipped it. If I have enough empties for a Back-2-MAC, I would get this baby. Another fave is Lickable - it's a hot pink that I don't usually wear, but it is super sexy color that would really show off your lips. Creme Cup is pretty but I guess its effect on me is going to be similar to that of Creme d'Nude: too light that it washes me out. All in all, the shades are pretty comprehensive and one is bound to find a favorite or two in this collection.

I am also liking the cremestick liners. I have Sublime Culture and I love the smooth lines it creates without the need of sharpening. I am a lip liner girl and I always use liners to prevent bleeding or feathering. My favorite in this collection has got to be Pink Treat. I love those kinds of pink-mauve liners because it's pretty universal: I can create a myriad of lip looks with such a versatile color.

The Cremesheen Glasses are limited edition lip glosses that are meant to complement the Cremesheen lipsticks. They are housed in dazzleglass-like tubes (but the latter's tubes are prettier and classier, they are somewhat made of better materials). The cremesheen glasses have doe-foot wand applicators that I don't care very much for; I wish they used brush applicators just like those of the dazzlegasses. The cremesheen glasses contain .09 oz of product for $18. That alone would prevent me from buying cremesheen glasses in the future. They are super expensive for the amount of product in the tube - half the product in a mini-lipglass from the Holiday sets! You might ask why I am a dazzleglass fan if they contain that little product - well it's because I just love the finish on me, and it lasts a super long time on the lips. The cremesheen glasses are beautiful - they glide well, have amazing scent (smells like vanilla cookies!) and pretty colors - but they are sheer and they didn't last long on my lips. If you are the type that likes to re-apply their glosses every so often (and believe me, I know some people who like to do that), then this would be a good product for you. I just prefer lipglasses, dazzleglasses and lustreglasses over the cremesheen glasses. Now if they are going to change the tubes and package them in lipglass tubes- I would definitely change my mind and snag those Cremesheen glasses in a heart beat, if only for the wonderful texture and shine (and scent!). My Ever So Rich and Fashion Scoop are very pretty shades and are very precious to me, and I will use them up to the very last drop. They are gorgeous lighter shades that would tone down darker lipsticks and would make luscious-looking lips.

All in all, I believe the true winners in this collection are the lipsticks and the liners. The Cremesheen formula I believe is one of the best formulas of lipstick MAC has created. Really love it to bits.

D10- thank you! Sorry for the delayed reply :)

A- Yes you can B2M them because they are encased in plastic. Of course, regular kohl pencils can't be B2M'd.
