Earthen Glow Minerals: "Cover Me" and "Youthful Glow" Formulas

Several mineral makeup companies I've tried offer different formulas of their foundations to suit different skin types and preferences. A lot of women also vary their mineral foundation formulas to suit their different needs, or to adjust to different seasons or times of the year. Like me, for example: I prefer light, airy foundations during the hottest months of the year, and prefer full coverage mineral foundations during cooler months and when my skin is acting up and would need better coverage. Earthen Glow Minerals is one of those companies that give women the power of choice. They have two formulas that offer different finishes and levels of coverage to suit various skin needs.

EG Minerals offers their Youthful Glow formula for those who like a foundation that has medium coverage and yet can effectively conceal blemishes. As the name suggests, this formula imparts a youthful glow and is not matte, but gives the skin a luminous, radiant finish. The Cover Me formula is their full coverage variant, and is perfect for those who like a concealer-type formula and yet does not look cakey on the face. This is more matte than Youthful Glow. I had the pleasure of trying out the two formulas, and I honestly cannot choose which one I prefer the most, although on certain days when my skin is acting up, for sure I would be using the Cover Me formula. Youthful Glow however gives a beautiful finish that looks perfectly natural. My perfect match in the Cover Me formula is Helena, and its Youthful Glow counterpart is Janelle.

Here are some swatches of the two formulas. As you may notice in the picture, Youthful Glow (Janelle) is "glowier" and has a thinner, smooth finish, while Cover Me (Helena) has a thicker consistency (but will not look cakey if you buff it in real well) and is perfect for concealing blemishes.

In this look, I was using Youthful Glow in Janelle.

In these looks, I used Cover Me in Helena. I loved the creamy finish despite the full coverage formula, and I was also impressed with the staying power. It stayed intact throughout the day without touch ups, and I only used oil blotting sheets to freshen up my makeup.

All in all, Earthen Glow Minerals exceeded my expectations with regard to the different formulations and shade matching. I have found great matches in their foundations, and the formulas agreed with my skin; they never broke me out nor caused my skin to itch. Best of all, there's something for everybody and for every skin type.
