I'm Baaaaaacccckkk!

I am so, so sorry for not having been here for a week. I had a glorious albeit short stay in New York and Jersey with my cousins, and I really had a blast. I did try to check out the spanking new MAC Pro store on 22nd St. and it was everything I had hoped a MAC Pro store would be, but it's more because they have an entire floor of a big office building with substantial space for a training area. The store is divided into two big sections: the retail area and a training room. I was majorly disappointed though when the MAs wouldn't let us take pictures of the store (but allowed one picture of us inside), or even buy products except the brushes (we were there at quarter before 6 and they were already doing inventory, so I was only able to get two brushes, the 169 - love, love, love it! - and the 209 eyeliner brush).

This is what it's supposed to look like, and here is our pic (with my cousins) inside the store.

Our lone pic at the Pro store. Hmmm, behind us would be - a bajillion pigments?

From there, we went to the MAC counter inside Macy's on 34th st. On our way there, however, we were greeted with this:

Yes, the Empire State Building on fire. We were standing on 34th st and Broadway and there were firefighters and cops everywhere. People were all over the place taking pics and looking up. I think they quelled it immediately because we were able to climb up two days after.

My cousins had makeovers at the MAC counter in Macy's; we didn't plan it but it sort of just happened after our disappointing stay at the Pro Store. The makeovers were just perfect for our night out.

This makeup artist told me that this particular MAC counter is the no. 1 MAC counter in the world. I'm not surprised.

Late dinner out

Inside the legendary Cafe Wha? at the Greenwich village, where Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan started their illustrious careers.

The Cafe Wha? House band; we had SUCH a good time!

Brian reminds me of young Kiefer Sutherland...don't shoot me if you disagree.

Not quite inebriated

cheesy tourist shot at the Grand Central Station

That's it! I will spare you of more tourist-y pics and will be uploading more stuff here because I am BACK with a vengeance! Stay tuned; I don't know where to begin!

Looks like sooo much fun. You and your cousins look great! Sorry you had a not so good time at the Pro Store. I think they have something about cameras because I have to step outside of the store to take pictures unless I get one of the youngens that don't care, hah. Speaking of which, guess what! My camera is MIA :(

Btw, this is kind of off topic, but are you Filipina? I can't really tell but your cousins are leading me to believe yes :)

Welcome back girl! Can't wait to get back to mineral lemming...

Hi Mrs. Lynne! yeah they told me they don't appreciate pictures of the Pro Store proliferating the net, although they allow pictures as long as there are people in them (like our pic). Yes I'm definitely Filipina. What did you think I was? :) Thanks for the welcome; I have to get my groove back, I am still no quite over the Big Apple just yet. ;-) It's truly MY kind of city, the vibe is just incredible.

Glad you are back! I was wondering where you have been. That MAC Pro store in NYC looks HUGE and seriously amazing. Glad you had fun on your trip :)

Omg, do you think you'll ever move there one day? Or is it more of an escape world than an everyday one? I've been once and came home 2 days before 9/11. It was unbelieveable to watch that on tv knowing I was actually thinking of extending my stay.

That's actually what I was thinking but you know how our world is nowadays. We all look like something different, lol.

petitebelle-my jaw dropped to the floor when I saw the vast expanse of MAC products in all their glory - too bad we went there a tad too late, it would have been fun to play with all the makeup!

Mrs.Lynne- maybe NYC is more of an escape for me, I wouldn't be able to withstand the cold (literally freezing my buns the whole time), plus I would hate to shovel snow. ;-) I still love my desert home, but NYC was a welcome respite.

Glad to have you back! Look like you had a lot of fun! I am about to leave on Sunday so I can't wait to check out the PRO Store for myself! What streets is that one on?

Welcome back! Looks like you had a smashing time. I've only been to the city once, but it was enough to make me fall in love!

Hey Vanessa! Woohoo, I am so jealous, I wanna go back to NYC! Go there early if you wanna play with all the makeup, I can't wait to see your pics! And I believe we took the path train and got off on 23rd st, then we walked along Avenue of the Americas before we hit 22nd st. HTH!

stefunki: thank you! Been to NYC in 1999, but I enjoyed it more immensely this time. I fell in love as well, it's dirtier than where I live but what the heck, it IS NYC and I love the hustle and bustle of the city.
