NARS Holiday 2014: Blush in Almeria and Lip Gloss in Corsica Swatches, Look, Review

Press sample

I was able to try a couple of products from the NARS Holiday collection.  I was pretty stoked to try them out, firstly because I am a huge fan of NARS, and second, these colors are the perfect hues for my skintone, and they are just up my alley.

The packaging comes in the same iconic rubberized blush compact and lipgloss tube, but they have this really nice geometric design on the lip gloss cap and the front of the blush.  This design really distinguishes the products as part of NARS' holiday collection of 2014, and it makes them much more interesting-looking.

I have two of these pretty shades that go really well together, NARS Almeria blush and NARS Corsica Lip Gloss.

NARS Almeria blush is described as a tan rose.  I just love this color!  It looks great on my warm skintone, and it looks natural or dramatic, depending on how heavy you apply it.  It looks like a beautiful warm plummy rose, and it's quite gorgeous.  If you have fair or light skin, you can apply it as lightly as a feather using a stippling brush, and it will come out as a beautiful just-got-back-from-the-cold flush on the cheeks.  If you have tan or deep skin, this would make a beautiful blush shade as well.  I see this as a universal cheek color.

NARS Corsica lip gloss is described as a shimmering pink raspberry, but I see it on my lips as similar to NARS Almeria blush in color.  It is not stick at all and very wearable.  It also has Vitamin E to help make lips feel hydrated and not sucked out of moisture.

NARS Almeria blush retails for $30 each.  I think it's a pretty good investment, because a lot of us know that NARS blushes are basically the king of blush staying power.  It stays put pretty much the whole day, and they are finely-milled and are just a dream to apply.

NARS Corsica lip gloss retails for $26 each.  It is admittedly on the pricey side, but you can check out the swatches either online or test them out in stores, and see which one flatters your skin the most.  I usually do that for high-end makeup.  I buy one or two that really compliment me the most, and I've not regretted those purchases, for the most part.
