As with past holiday offerings, MAC comes up with eye and lip kits that enhance your peepers and puckers using coordinating products.  I was able to try the Stroke of Midnight Bag/Violet.  It has the following products:

-Frozen Violet paint pot
-Blacktrack fluidline
-209 Eye Liner/259 Eye Shader Double Liner Brush
-MAC In Extreme Dimension Lash Mascara
-makeup bag

Let's talk first about the makeup bag.  I really like it - it looks simple, clean lines, and the only hint of it being a holiday kit are the gold stripes.  Nonetheless, it looks quite classy and can be used throughout the year.  I don't like the zipper though- it snags and it's not an easy opening and closing.  The material however is pretty nice and does not look cheap.

MAC Frozen Violet paint pot is a frosted purple with silver flecks.  I wish it were a bit more of a cream than a shimmer, but it works good as an eye shadow base to make your eye colors pop.  This is one of my favorite color when it comes to paint pots, just because it's a very versatile hue.  It can be used alone, but I prefer to apply it underneath a shadow - be it neutral, purples, plums, pinks, taupes or even silver.

Wow- MAC Blacktrack fluidline- I forgot how good this fluidline is.  I have not owned a Blacktrack in years.  I had one but I lost it or something.  I love how pigmented it is, glides like a dream on the lashline, and has the perfect consistency/texture- not too thick, not too goopy.

The MAC 209 Eye Liner/259 Eye Shader Double Liner Brush is a nice addition to this kit.  It is great because you have the 209 brush for lining the lashline with the Blacktrack fluidline, and you also have the 259 eye shader to apply the paint pot.

MAC In Extra Dimension Lash Mascara- I am a fan of plastic brushes, ever since I tried Tarte's Lights, Camera Flashes mascara.  I feel like the plastic bristles separate my sparse lashes better, volumize them without clumping, and generally can hold the curl better than other kinds of brushes.  Since MAC In Extra Dimension Lash Mascara has the same hard plastic brush as the Tarte's Lights, Camera Flashes, the MAC In Extra Dimension Lash is right up my alley.  It holds my curl and gives volume to my lashes without making them look spidery.

All in all, this kit is one of my favorites from the MAC Holiday gift sets.  It has products that I know I will be able to use and are staples in my makeup application routine.  The bag itself is nice as well, and does not look cheap.  This kit retails for $39.50 U.S. / $47.50 CDN.
