I was on vacation for a few weeks with family, so I was not able to review this sooner, I apologize! Here's the Glossybox A Year of Beauty anniversary box as Glossybox celebrates its first anniversary in the U.S. This box has goodies that celebrate Glossybox's past and future, so here's a look into these beauty items.
There's a European Wax Center less than a mile from my place, and I was always intrigued about it because it looks so posh. It also has several store branches in my area. As the name implies, it's a hair removal center. They specialize in waxing services, and they also offer products that help to soothe and refresh the sensitive area after waxing. The Slow It Body Wash is a product to clean skin, prevent ingrown hair, and deters bumps and blemishes while hydrating the skin. I think the name also implies that it slows the regrowth of hair? I'm not so sure about that, though.
I like the scent of the wash, and it makes the skin feel smooth, refreshed and clean.
I love Hydro Masks! The être belle Collagen & Aloe Vera Hydro Mask is no exception. It just looks like this one I got from the Glossybox March 2013:
It feels really cool and refreshing on the face, a perfect treat after a stressful work day! It makes the skin feel soft and really moisturized. The manufacturer claims that it provides skin with a moisture boost that improves elasticity and promotes hydration. I can't say much about the elasticity claim because I've only used it once, but I really love the moisturized feel after use.
The Sebastian Professional Volupt Spray is my favorite item in this box. I absolutely love Sebastian products and I've been using them since 2001. This spray is the perfect hairspray to volumize my thin, fine hair.
A product that mattifies and moisturizes? That sounds quite contradicting, but it's not. It's the best of both worlds. My Prime Multi-Purpose Mattifiying Moisturizer is a lightweight moisturizer that hydrates and makes the skin smooth, and also keeps oilies at bay. As you can see in the swatches, it really does mattify the skin, prepping it for makeup application or touch-ups.
This is probably my least favorite item in the box. Nicka K New York Absolute! Perfume Stick is a solid perfume that is supposed to embody the spirit and passion of New York City. However, I am not liking this particular scent, Parc de 59. I am very sensitive to scents, so maybe it's just me.
Okay, I have to admit this one is particularly odd in texture, but the finish is glorious.
AmorePacific Color Control Cushion Compact is a multi-tasking product. It has broad-spectrum SPF protection, deep-hydrating properties and the coverage of a foundation. It has a built-in sponge for easy application especially when traveling.
It is very moist on the first application, so much though that I thought it was a little too wet. However, the product quickly settles into the skin and gives a beautiful finish. I was impressed. If you have very oily skin, though, this may not be for you because it does really moisturize the skin.
All in all, I liked all the products in this box except for the solid perfume. I particularly like the Sebastian Volupt Spray, My Prime Primer and the AmorePacific Color Control Cushion Compact.
