Birchbox July 2012 Review

I know, I know, I am a little late for this review but I cannot not blog about it.  This is one of the better Birchboxes that I've received in a while, and I think their collaboration with Glamour on this one was a good move because they really had a good feel as to what Glamour readers like.  This Birchbox is all about the five senses, and the products are of course suited to tantalize these senses.  Here are my thoughts on the items.

I am loving the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner.  If you have been reading my blog for a while, you would know that I am a fan of liquid liners.  Specifically, I am a fan of pen-type, felt-tip liners.  I get more control and crisp lines using these types of applicators.  The Eyeko Skinny Liquid liner is made in the UK and I've always been impressed with the Eyeko products that I've tried, including nail lacquer.  I have the Eyeko Skinny in both purple and black, and they are both very pigmented, saturated and draw really defined, crisp lines.  This is one of the best items in this Birchbox.

Uber Larabar Cherry Cobbler

Obviously this item is part of the "Taste" experience of this box. Birchbox likes to include different kinds of food items in their package, and I appreciate some, and some I don't really care for. This one is particularly right up my alley, though. It is a combination of salty and sweet which I like. It has fruit and nuts in it, and is gluten-free. It has almonds, cashews, dates, honey, raisins and dried cherries. This was my mid-morning snack at work and I really enjoyed it.

Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens

I particularly like these Boscia Green Tea blotting linens because I knew that I would really be using these as I have an oily t-zone.  I appreciate getting a pack of this because it's relatively expensive when you buy it at the drugstore or ULTA- it's at least $5 a pack.  I like the sturdy sheet and the fact that I can blot oil without ruining my makeup.

Birchbox Neon Earbuds

I think the Ear Buds are a cute idea because everybody needs an extra pair, right?  I just think the cover (the neon green part) is a bit flimsy and will probably not last a long time.  Call me old but the colors are also a bit too juvenile for me.  My 8 year old niece would love this, though.

Oscar de la Renta Live in Love

I received an Oscar De La Renta Live In Love sample which is a nice scent, smells very florally.  It reminds me of the ylangylang buds in our tree while I was growing up.  If you don't like floral scents, this is not for you.

Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint SPF 20

Jouer claims that this product evens out imperfections and fades the appearance of fine lines with its light-diffusing multi-mineral formula. I've tried this product and it's like a tinted moisturizer.  Ginseng and Gingko Biloba Leaf Extract deliver antioxidants to skin.   It's light on the skin and does not feel very heavy and cakey.  I just feel that the shade is too light for me.

All in all, I like the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner the best, followed by the Boscia oil-blotting linens. The other items are okay, they were little perks that I enjoyed, but I liked those two items the best.

Note: Media sample was provided by a representative of the brand for consideration. All opinions are completely mine.

I like the Eyeko Skinny Liquid liner, but I'd have been disappointed with this box. I tend to be disappointed with beauty box subscriptions though.
