ZO® Medical by Zein Obagi Brightenex™ Skin Brightener & Correcting Creme Review

If you have dark spots or hyperpigmentation, you might find this new product from ZO® Medical by Zein Obagi interesting. In the past, every hyperpigmentation issue always has to have hydroquinone as the answer. Now, for those who can't or don't want to use hydroquinone, ZO® Medical incorporates its revolutionary Oleosome technology to deliver superior results as a safer alternative to hydroquinone for brighter and more even toned skin.

ZO® Medical's Brightenex™ Skin Brightener and Correcting Creme is bioengineered to target all four stages of skin discoloration through a patented, bio-vectored, micro-sphere delivery system. The company claims that Brightenex™ is the first course in effectively treating hyperpigmentation.

This is how the company describes Brightenex™'s benefits on the skin and how it reduces hyperpigmentation:

Brightenex™ is the first commercial product launch that stabilizes pure retinol (1.0%), melanin inhibitors and antioxidants with natural, patented Oleosome technology. Oleosomes are microspheres of antioxidant-rich emollient oils and vitamins found naturally in plant seeds like almond and safflower. As these microspheres release, they provide immediate moisturization benefits to skin. By stabilizing and delivering retinol, Oleosome technology also provides a delayed release of active ingredients, reducing potential irritation while improving performance.

Ingredients:

BRIGHTENEX™ Multi-Action System
Dual pigmentation reversal with vitamin A and ascorbic acid-2 glucoside
Bio-active levels of vitamins E and C, and stachys officinalis antioxidants
Multistage glutathione, soy isoflavones, and N-acetyl glucosamine melanin inhibitor system
Retinol (1.0%) microencapsulation in an oleosomes delivery system

Let me say that my chin was once a zit farm due to my fluctuating hormones. I am now on hormone therapy, and my skin has been clear for a couple of months. However, what drove me crazy was the fact that I still had dark spots on my chin no matter how clear my skin was. The past cystic acne scars on my chin have not been kind to my skin.

I've been using Brightenex™ for around two months now and I am honestly impressed with the product. I was told that I should expect some tingling at first, but it actually felt nice on the skin. It may be because I am used to retinol by now. I use Brightenex™ as a substitute for my Vitamin C serum, and use it alternately with my serums. I apply it after cleansing and before application of retinoids. I notice that my acne scars on my chin are becoming less and less noticeable each week, and my skin is in its best shape in months.

I didn't come up with this review right away because I wanted to prove that the claims were true, because when I received it, I still had a lot of dark spots on the chin. Two months after, I am glad I came up with a later review because I am now certain that this product works, at least on my acne scars. I felt that my skin looks a bit brighter than before as well:

After testing this product for 8-10 weeks, I do recommend this product to people who have hyperpigmentation or dark spot issues. The combination of Vitamin C and Retinol (1.0%) I believe helped speed up the disappearance of hyperpigmentation and uneven skintone. However, be sure to consult your doctor prior to taking Brightenex as this contains retinol which can be harmful to certain types of individuals.

Brightenex™ retails for $110 (75ml/2.5 oz). ZO® Medical products are exclusively available through leading physician practices throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Sounds like a nice product! I've never had much luck with fading dark spots from acne scars.

Thank you so much for doing Obagi's Brightenex review you utube, as it is the only one!!! I just started using it and I do think it is a great product but how long did it take for your face to get accustomed w/o being excessively dry and peeling?
