Glossybox June 2012 Review

s, M

I was able to try the goodies from the Glossybox USA June 2012. It's a sampling service where you subscribe to the service, and every month, you will receive a gaily-wrapped package filled with 5-6 premium samples of nail, skin or makeup products. Glossybox's subscription fee is $21 per month, and you get a really nice, sturdy box with products tailor-made for you (you will have to fill up a survey to give the company an idea of what products you like).

In my Glossybox USA Video Review, I was able to review the April 2012 box. In this entry, I will be reviewing the June 2012 Glossybox which is all about summer simplicity. The warm weather makes us want to wear light, breathable products, but we also want our skin to glow with health. These products target our summer cravings for our face, hair and skin.

First Aid Beauty Smooth Shave Cream (Price of Full Size: $16.50/6.8 oz)

The First Aid beauty shave cream is one of the gentlest shaving creams I've tried. I love that this has no detectable scent at all, so it doesn't clash with my scented body wash or lotion. It gently helps in giving a nice, smooth shave, and it protects my skin from nicks and cuts. I hate when those happen. Fortunately, this one prevented the nicks that I would regularly get. I think this is one of my favorites from this box.

Beauty Addicts Show Off Mascara (Price of Full Size: $20)

Using BeautyAddicts Show-OFF Mascara

The BeautyAddicts Show-OFF Mascara is probably my second favorite from this box. It has a unique, curved applicator that give you really voluminous, intense lashes. It has a unique formula with argan oil. The only thing I don't like here is that the formula is so moist that it clumps up my lashes. Make sure to scrape the applicator over the mouth of the tube to take off excess product. Other than that, as you can see in the photos, it gives a really nice, lush, voluminous lash effect.

Shea Terra Organics Ultimate Moisturizing Body Creme (Price of Full Size: $18/9.0 oz)

The Shea Terra Organics Ultimate Moisturizing Body Creme is such a thick, decadent cream, and decadent is the perfect adjective to describe it because it smells exactly like white chocolate! It does remind me of those white chocolate candy bars. It smells amazing, and yet it may be too cloying for those with sensitive noses. The product itself is really emollient and rich, and I would imagine perfect for very dry skin. It is made up of 30% organic shea butter, so you know this is a really rich cream.

Kinerase Restructure Firming Cream (Price of Full Size: $98/1.7 oz)

The Kinerase Firming Cream has a very lightweight texture and a pleasant subtle scent. It is moisturizing but not very rich, thus great for warmer weather. I can't vouch for its claims of firming the skin as I have not used this long enough to make an informed opinion, but it's a decent moisturizer.

Wella Professional Enrich Moisturizing Treatment (Price of Full Size: $12/5.7 oz)

I have oily hair so I don't think I need an enriching moisturizing treatment for my hair, but I think for those with dry hair or damaged hair from heating tools and such, this can be a good product. This is very lightweight, though, so I think I can still use this. It has a subtle scent that is not cloying.

Bonus: Urban Organic sample fragrance from A Perfume Organic (Price of Full Size: $65/0.41 oz)

This fragrance is in a tiny sample tube much like the samples that we would get with Sephora online purchases. It has a nice lavender and grapefruit smell, which is great for summer as the citrus and fruit notes really connote warm weather. I am not a fan of lavender though so this is not my cup of tea, but the other citrus notes are heavenly and perfect for summer.

All in all, I like some of the products from the Glossybox June 2012 like the BeautyAddicts Show-Off Mascara, the Smooth Shave Cream, and the Shea Terra Organics moisturizing cream. I like that the mascara is a full size tube. Most of these are premium sample sizes, meaning that you can get them in decent-sized travel packaging.
