China Glaze Capitol Colours: The Hunger Games Collection Swatches Part 2

As described, here is Part 2 of the China Glaze Capitol Colours collection which is inspired by The Hunger Games movie which opens March 23rd.

Check out China Glaze Capitol Colours Swatches Part 1 here.

Smoke & Ashes

Smoke & Ashes

Smoke and Ashes is a black-based teal with multi-colored shimmer. This is amazingly opaque in one coat. Let me repeat: this is opaque in one coat. Amazing! I don't think I've encountered any China Glaze polish this opaque, so much so that the polish looks too black especially indoors, and it looks like a very very blackened green outdoors.  The shimmer is quite noticeable, though, but I would have wanted this to be a little less dark.  The dark shade makes the shimmer a lot less noticeable, like it is fighting to be noticed in that blackened base.     I do love the opacity though, but like I said, I just wished it was a tad less black and more green.

Electrify

Electrify is a fiery gold and red ruby blend in a clear base. This is what I would imagine Katniss from the book wore during the opening ceremonies of the Hunger Games because her dress supposedly depicted flames of fire. Electrify has densely-packed glitter so you can coat your nails in glitter in a couple of applications.

Harvest Moon

Harvest Moon is described as a crystallized copper shimmer.  I think what that means is that there are little glass-like particles in the product that sort of reflects like crystal.  This is a beautiful shade and I like that this seems to be a blend of metallic and glass-fleck finishes.

Agro

Agro definitely represents District 11 in The Hunger Games, the agriculture district where Rue (an important character in the book) came from.  This is a moss green with gold shimmer.  Very nice, although I have seen some China Glaze polishes that are very similar to this in color and finish.

Luxe and Lush over Agro

Luxe and Lush is described as a "high octane flaky topcoat".  I think that means that the flakies are so dense that you get to have a lot in each coat.  That may please a lot of flakie topcoat lovers, but as you can see in the swatches, it gets too chunky that the flakies look kind of messy.  I only applied one coat of Luxe and Lush over Agro, but you can definitely see how chunky the finish is.  Also, the flakie bits look really huge compared to those of Zoya or Fingerpaints, so they don't look dainty on the nails at all.  I am not so sure about this particular flakie.  What do you think?

Stone Cold

Stone Cold is a matte slate grey with shimmer.  I am not too fond of mattes, but I do like that it does have some shimmer.  I would probably stamp some images on it to bring more life to it.  I do kinda like it as it is different from many of China Glaze's polishes.

All in all, the 12 shades of the Capitol Colours were well-thought of and did try to represent the districts of Panem or any part of the story, like Katniss' dress.  My utmost faves are Riveting, Foie Gras, Electrify, Fast Track.  I like that China Glaze made another unique finish in Smoke and Ashes and Stone Cold- these shades are super opaque in one coat, and the colors are rich and vampy.  I am not really feeling Luxe and Lush, though, probably because of the very chunky flakies.  This collection has a good mixture of different dark, light, vampy shades, as well as cream, shimmer, glitter, flakie finishes, that I'm sure there is at least one shade that is bound to pique everyone's interest.  I do love the trilogy so much that I am grateful for this collection.  Everytime I wear one of the shades, it brings me back to the fighting arena once more.
