Proactiv Concealer Plus Swatches and Review

Medium, Medium Dark

I have been breaking out lately, maybe partly due to stress, and partly due to hormone-related causes. I've been growing some zits on the chin, which is most often the area where you see zits that are caused by hormone imbalance. I'm taking something to counteract that imbalance, but I need to use something that not only will conceal the zit marks, but will also not exacerbate the situation, and preferably, heal the blemish as well.

I was able to try the ProActiv Concealer Plus in both the Medium and Medium Dark shades. I always keep the Medium in my makeup bag that I bring everywhere, just in case I feel a zit about to pop out. Proactiv's Concealer Plus is a concealer and spot treatment in one, a product that has the same powerful sulfur you find in the Refining Mask with the added benefit of makeup coverage. If you are familiar with Proactiv's 3-step system that we see everywhere from infomercials to mall kiosks, you would know what the Refining Mask is. It is Proactiv's signature sulfur mask that is both a mask and spot treatment.  The sulfur which is the mask's active ingredient makes zits appear smaller overnight due to its anti-inflammatory properties.  It also lessens the pain of a newly emerging zit and shrinks my pimples considerably so I can look and feel better during the day.  This same ingredient is in the Concealer Plus.  It smells just like the Refining Mask- very sulfur-y - but that's how you know that the product is working.

As for its concealing properties, it makes my blemish less red, but it does not fully conceal the zit.  I think this is why I heard that the product is going to be discontinued, maybe for Proactiv to reformulate it and to come up with better coverage.  It is still on Proactiv's website, though, so grab it while it's still available!

Pros: Great spot treatment; covers some of the redness.

Cons: It doesn't cover really well; you need additional coverage using a separate concealer if you want to cover a medium-sized zit.

All in all, this is a good spot treatment that I keep as a staple in purse.  It does not fully cover a blemish, but if you just want a spot treatment to treat your blemish while on the go (and at least it's not stark white!  It blends into your makeup), this is a decent choice.
